Mayor Q 60 Minutes Attack Sparks Missouri GOP WAR Vs. KCMO!!!

After a day of messaging with politicos and insiders on both side of the aisle here's what TKC understands for certain . . .

MISSOURI REPUBLICANS HAVE UNITED TO DECLARE OUTRIGHT POLITICAL WAR ON KANSAS CITY MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS!!!

The right-wing disdain for the KCMO honcho is palpable and its resonating across Missouri.

Longtime denizens of the discourse warn us that the current division betwixt Republicans & Democrats has never been worse.

Here's one of the first comments that we heard just moments after Mayor Q's interview and it still holds true . . .

"Mayor Q just started an unprecedented fight that's going to cost Kansas City . . . Big time. We've NEVER had this bad of a relationship with state lawmakers who hold a Super Majority."

A note about the consequences . . .

"It's a fire sale. From low-income housing credits to money for roads or housing programs. The word is out . . . Kansas City isn't getting a dime extra and voters have Mayor Lucas to thank for it."

Further edification . . .

"I blame the schools for voters not knowing how municipal government works. So much of our funding comes from Jeff City. Missouri state appropriations are critical in maintaining a decent standard of living for all of our residents. Everything from infrastructure to social service funding and even non-partisan programs people take for granted like job training; All of that starts in Jeff City . . . Now we've got the Mayor of the largest city in Missouri calling out the Governor and the Republicans on national TV? What good does that do? He doesn't have the votes to change anything."

Our favorite explanation . . .

"Mayor Quinton Lucas was looking out for HIS BRAND rather than the voters and residents of Kansas City. Sure, getting a  prime-time spot on 60 Minutes elevates him to the national stage again. But picking a fight with the Missouri GOP simply puts our legislators and lobbyists at a disadvantage. He has worsened a relationship that shouldn't be adversarial . . . And he's smart enough to to know that Kansas City and many of his colleagues are going to pay a very real political price for his publicity stunt."

For those who haven't seen it yet . . . Check the 60 Minutes feature that targets Missouri Republican lawmakers for the Second Amendment Protection Act . . .

Notice that the piece only picked up about 60K views on Youtube. In comparison: Canelo smacking around a worthy challenger and becoming a UNIFIED boxing champ earned about 3 MILLION views.

Political watchers would be wise to watch that boxing clip because KCMO is likely going to get smacked around like that in Jeff City very soon.

But I digress . . .

Objectively, national TV coverage and a spotlight on local bloodshed is important in demonstrating that violent crime is an important problem that has been overlooked by many of our leaders on the national level.

However . . .

Kansas City politicos have challenged Missouri Republicans on gun control for YEARS and so far there hasn't been a single legislative victory on the topic whilst the Missouri Democratic Party has faded to almost complete irrelevance and was shut out of EVERY statewide race in the last election.
