Activists keep trying to explain 'social housing' to middle-aged locals but it all comes out sounding like "FREE RENT" courtesy of the taxpayers and small-time landlords without good lawyers.

KC tenants laid out many solutions they see to fix the problem including social housing, which leaders described as permanent and accessible housing controlled by the community.

Mayor Quinton Lucas attended the town hall— he says he's willing to work to see social housing in Kansas City, but says it would take change in Missouri law, and work with state officials.

More than 200 renters from around Kansas City gathered Thursday night to discuss new approaches for creating stable, affordable housing for low-income tenants. Citywide tenant union KC Tenants hosted the to rally support for social housing, which they define as housing that puts people over profits.
