Kansas City Star SHUTS DOWN Website Comments

It seems that the so-called paper-of-record in Kansas City is soon to "tech" itself out of existence.

Most of the content is behind a paywall.

Insiders tell us that the "block" list on social media includes TENS OF THOUSANDS of accounts . . . Including TKC!!!

Their paper isn't even produced at the local, old school facility featured in the lead photo and is, instead, shipped in form Iowa.

And now here's the word from one of our KICK-ASS READERS . . .

"It appears The Star has turned off commenting on articles at kansascity.com.  If  permanent, I'm not surprised."

To be fair, they weren't getting a lot of comments anyway and, again, social media offers better tools for blocking and filtering.

We get it . . . This year it took about two weeks for TKC to sort out comments but since that time we've hosted more than a few threads that hit triple digits and all things considered the chatter seems to be worth keeping if only because social media is such a vapid abyss. Also, TKC comments continue to anger readers from both conservative & progressive perspectives. Every so often, they even make me laugh . . . Which is the point of this whole blog to begin with . . .

But I digress . . .

Fact is, from what we've seen over the past year & a half . . .

The Kansas City Star isn't interested in anyone's opinion but their own.

That's not really journalism but, instead, joins the cacophony of partisan babbling hosted by cable news outlets that doesn't really contribute to the discourse, Democracy, human decency or the understanding of American life.

You decide . . .
