Kansas City Police Ask For Help After Suspicious Death Ruled Homcide

Local holiday season violence starts to escalate as we share this report of the latest, local deadly crime scene.

Unofficially, this is KCMO homicide #136 compared to #165 at this time last year and #133 the year before that . . .

Suspicious Death Now Homicide: 1800 Block Of NE 49th Street

"Today, at approximately 1130 hours, officers responded to the 1800 block of NE 49th street in regard to a check the welfare call.  The reporting party stated the victim had not been showing up for work and was concerned about his welfare.  Officers made entry into the residence and found the victim unresponsive.  EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased.

"Due to suspicious circumstances at the scene, this was initially investigated as a suspicious death, but is now being investigated as a homicide.  The victim is an adult male . . .  

Right now there is not specific information about the victim’s injuries or cause of death available . . .

"There is no suspect information at this time and we asking for the public’s assistance in this case.  Please call the Homicide Unit at 234-5043, or if you would like to remain anonymous, call the TIPS Hotline for a reward of up to $25,000 for an arrest in this case."
