Kansas City Playlist: Show-Me Anti-Feminism Or Man Up?!?

Tonight we take a peek at a facet of the "war between the sexes" that probably started around the time the first caveman was somehow inclined to let his lady friend stand closer to the campfire.

Locals might remember that Missouri Senator Josh Hawley recently shared a curious tirade about "manhood" which was kinda odd for a guy that doesn't look like has ever worked a job that required him to get his hands dirty. To be fair, other than a few stints washing dishes and waiting tables, TKC is a career keyboard warrior as well; but, because of my Dad this blog has always attempted to pay respect to working-class men & women with a special place in our heart for one of the last remaining tests of manhood in the modern era . . . Home repair on a limited budget.

But I digress . . .

It turns out criticism of Senator Hawley was universal. Recently sent our way by one of the BEST & BRIGHTEST TKC READERS . . . Here's a recent and scathing attack against his rhetoric.

"They are putting a brash new spin on an old culture war. Hawley’s anti-feminism isn’t novel, but he is responding to a new moment in modern American politics. Conservatives have always argued that by muddying gender roles, feminism harms men and women alike. Yet in recent years, this rhetoric has acquired an even sharper edge, pitting men and women against each other as if greater freedom for women comes directly at the expense of men. For Republican politicians and their supporters, Trump’s unapologetic misogyny further expanded the borders of the possible."

That's rough.

Here's the rest of the article if that kind of thing is your bag, baby . . .

The New Anti-Feminism

The conservative movement believes men are in trouble, and they know who to blame. "The left want to define traditional masculinity as toxic. They want to define the traditional masculine virtues - things like courage and independence and assertiveness - as a danger to society," the Republican senator Josh Hawley said during a recent speech.

Accordingly . . .

The only thing we have to offer is that "paying tribute to masculinity" sounds kinda gay . . . Not that there's anything wrong with that,of course.

But the fact remains . . .

Most men don't go around talking about manhood . . .

Still, if nothing else, this blog is about exploring and we're UNAFRAID TO SUBMIT TO A DEEP PROBING IN ORDER TO TRULY UNDERSTAND OUR FEELINGS ABOUT MANHOOD

All we ask is a bit of understanding and a rhythmic pace . . . Which inspires our playlist tonight on the topic of masculinity, toxic or otherwise.

We were gonna call this list "respect the cock" but that chicken genius post title isn't very creative and is probably outdated . . .

Instead we merely present a few of our favorite tunes that might or might not inspire dudes sitting around thinking about other dudes . . .

An anthem . . .

Possibly our favorite 90s-era take on manhood . . .

Another classic LGBT tribute to manhood . . .

White hip-hop near its climax . . .

Finally, this is actually a pretty good old school song and provides more insight than most modern-day culture war slap fighting . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week. Have a safe and fun Saturday night and we hope to have more for tomorrow's update . . . STAY TUNED!!!
