Kansas City Metro Divided Over Removing COVID Masks

There isn't much consensus as COVID masks come off across the metro.

On the bright side . . . Most people who wore them on their chin throughout the pandemic will no longer have to make all of us endure their charade.

Parents mixed on some Jackson County school districts' decisions to make masks optional

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - Thousands of students in Jackson County returned to the classroom Monday without masks. When the county ended its mask mandate Friday, some districts made them optional. Parents have divided opinions on the decision. While some are happy, others said this is too soon.


SMSD removes mask mandate for upper grades starting January 3

OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -- As city and county mask mandates start disappearing, several school boards are re-examining their policies. Monday night, the Shawnee Mission School Board voted to remove its mask mandate for grades 7 through 12. The administration suggested the change begin January 3rd, right after winter break.


Roeland Park City Council votes to let mask mandate expire

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - People in Roeland Park will no longer be required to wear masks indoors beginning Tuesday. On Monday night, the City Council voted to let a mask mandate expire at midnight. The indoor mask mandate was implemented in August as COVID-19 cases rose due to the delta variant.
