Kansas City Homicide Count Stands At 135 After Deadly Domestic Shooting

The aftermath of a tragic Northeast killing pushes the homicide count to 135 compared to 165 at this time last year.

Homicide 5100 block of Olive *Late Death*

On 11-11-2021 at about 3:30pm, officers were called to the 5100 block of Olive Street in regard to a shots fired call that was updated to a shooting as the officers were en route.  Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, Malik McCree b/m 06-01-1996, in the street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  A person of interest was taken into custody without incident nearby.  The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Detectives investigated this case and submitted a case file for the aggravated assault.  The prosecutor’s office subsequently charged Brandi Edgerson b/f 04/08/1998 with domestic assault and armed criminal action.  She is in custody at Jackson County.

Detectives were later notified that the victim was taken off life support and died as a result of his injuries.  Detectives will submit additional case file information to the prosecutor for their decision on any upgrading or additional charges.
