Kansas City 2021 Homicide #131: Dead Man Didn't Show Up For Work

There's no rest for Kansas City as the latest violent crime victim was discovered because he missed a shift.

Homicide 3700 Block of E. 47th Terrace

This morning just after 9:30 AM officers were dispatched on a check the welfare call. Upon arrival they contacted the reporting party who stated they came to check on the victim because he had not been to work. Officers entered the apartment and found the victim unresponsive. EMS arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. This is being investigated as a homicide. The specific injuries are unknown at this time.  The victim is an adult male.


Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene. Again, unofficially, this is 2021 homicide #131 compared to 158 at this time last year and 126 the year before that . . . Overall, despite the drop in this year's count, homicides continue to trend upward over the last five years.

KCPD: Welfare check turns into homicide investigation

Allison Twyman SOURCE: Allison Twyman Police are investigating a homicide near East 47th Terrace and Benton Saturday morning. Officers were called for a welfare check just after 9:30 am. The person who called dispatch said they went to check on the man who lived inside the apartment because he hadn't been to work.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City police detectives are investigating a homicide in the 3700 block of East 47th Terrace. Just after 9:30 officers were dispatched on a check the welfare call. Upon arrival they met with a person who said they came to check on the adult male because he had not been to work.
