US Cities With Most Robberies

Violent crime inched up by about 5% in the United States in 2020. The increase was led by a 29% surge in homicides - the largest such increase on record. Not all forms of criminal violence increased in frequency last year, however. Continuing a multi-decade downward trend, the robbery rate declined in the U.S.


Kansas City police investigate Sunday morning life-threatening shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One man suffered life-threatening injuries in a Sunday morning shooting in Kansas City, Missouri. According to the KCPD, officers responded to a shooting call that happened near 8834 east U.S. Highway 40 at around 5:42 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who said he'd heard sounds of someone breaking into cars in the parking lot.


Police: One suspect dead, 5 injured in Sunday 'mass casualty' shooting in downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA - One gunman is dead and five people are injured after what officials are calling a mass casualty shooting in downtown Columbia early Sunday morning. It happened in the 10th block of North Fifth Street around 3 a.m., outside of Vibez lounge.


Mayor of Wichita suburb arrested on suspicion of DUI

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The mayor of a Wichita suburb was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A report released by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office Sunday shows that Goddard Mayor Hunter Larkin was arrested by the Kansas Highway Patrol Saturday near the intersection of Tyler Road and Kellogg Drive in Wichita.


Liberty Police Department arrests man accused of killing mother

LIBERTY, Mo. - Liberty man is accused of killing his mother according to police. On Friday evening around 11:47 p.m., police responded to a house in the 400 Block of Glendale to investigate a man reported to be "out of control." The initial investigation revealed a dead woman inside the home.


Family prepares emotionally for trial in death of beloved local football player

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Friends and family of a Lee's Summit West football alum who was murdered came together Saturday to remember him and prepare emotionally for the upcoming murder trial, which we've learned might be further delayed. Dwane Simmons went on to play football at Washburn University in Topeka.
