Kansas City Streetcar Works Diligently To Avoid Turning East

The toy train has decimated small biz along its path and now it might completely destroy any semblance of independent originality along 39th street.  

Here's a peek at the plan allegedly inspired by a local healthcare giant . . . 

“(Study) initiated in part by request from the University of Kansas Health System to look at improved connectivity with KU Med and regional medical complexes,” it stated.

On the bright side . . . This is mostly developer hype from a hack blog but it offers an important indication that toy train insiders aren't at all concerned with hooking up the urban core with their historic taxpayer subsidized project.

Streetcar Looks East and West to KU Med in Proposed New Study

By Kevin Collison A one-mile streetcar extension that would take passengers west on 39th Street from the new Main Street line and across the border to the KU Med Center is the subject of a study that won Streetcar Authority support Thursday. It also would explore extending a potential line east of Main along Linwood.
