OP 100/Police Standoff

This afternoon right around 4pm, officers were called to the Best Western at 43rd/Main St in regard to a disturbance involving a weapon.  The calling party provided information the victim was inside a hotel room with an armed suspect who was refusing to let the victim leave and was threatening to harm the victim.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was able to get out of the hotel room safely, but confirmed the suspect was inside and armed with a gun.  Officers attempted to contact the suspect who refused to come out of the room.

An OP 100/police standoff has been called to bring additional tactical resources and negotiators to the scene.

During this time we have made contact with several occupants of rooms inside the hotel to evacuate them.

Negotiators are attempting to speak with the subject in hopes of bringing the situation to a peaceful resolution.

Standoff in progress at 43rd and Main Best Western

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A standoff is in progress at the Best Western at 43rd and Main. Police were notified around 4 p.m. of a disturbance involving a weapon. The calling party told the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department an armed suspect was in a hotel room threatening to harm a victim, according to a news release.

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- The Kansas City Police Department is currently engaged in a standoff with an armed person inside a hotel, which has been evacuated. According to the KCPD, the incident began around 4 p.m. At that time, officers were called to the Best Western in the area of 43rd and Main regarding a disturbance that involved a weapon.

A suspect is in a standoff with police after allegedly threatening to harm a victim that was being held hotel room. This afternoon around 4 p.m., officers were called to the Best Western at 43rd and Main Street in regards to a disturbance involving a weapon.

UPDATE...

Just after 9:30pm, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
