Afghan Refugees Settle In Kansas City

Believe it or not, this is actually a bit of upbeat news . . .

Despite dire predictions from right wing pundits . . . Both conservative and progressive factions of Kansas City volunteers have been exceptionally welcoming toward refugees from Afghanistan.

Given that the Taliban is cracking down on the broken nation and turning it back into Hell on Earth . . . It's unlikely we'll see an endless wave of settlers.

Taliban beheaded female volleyball player, posted photos online, coach says

An Afghan volleyball player on the girls' national team was beheaded by the Taliban - with gruesome photos of her severed head posted on social media, according to her coach. Mahjabin Hakimi, one of the best players in the Kabul Municipality Volleyball Club, was slaughtered in the capital city of Kabul as troops searched for female sports players, her coach told the Persian Independent.

Instead what we've witnessed is Kansas City welcoming people in need and finding a place for them in communities across the metro.

Afghan refugee families begin finding homes in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Afghan refugees are beginning to arrive in Kansas City. Out of 1,200 refugees expected to arrive in Missouri, Kansas City agencies are expected to help 550 to resettle in the area. Della Lamb, one of three Kansas City area agencies assisting, announced that its first Afghan evacuee family arrived Friday.


What can Kansas Citians do to help Afghan refugees?

In September, Mayor Lucas tweeted that the first of hundreds of Afghan refugees have been welcomed to Kansas City. Now, three organizations designated by the Department of State are working in Kansas City to resettle Afghan refugees who fled the conflict in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the country.
