SANTACALIGON DAYS SUFFERS TERRIFYING TEEN MASS SHOOTING!!!

After a great deal of reporting this morning . . . The upshot is that we all kind of knew this festival is/was a disaster in the making given that COVID has killed the ability of people to behave in public.

On the bright side, there are no reports of a homicide in the aftermath.

And so, here's a description of the chaotic scene just for posterity . . . And today's confirmation that the Kansas City metro can't have anything nice . . .

According to police, four juvenile victims were injured and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries at about 11 p.m.

There were around 15 shots fired and people were immediately evacuated and the festival shut down.

Several officers were stationed around the festival and in the carnival area specifically, but there are a lot of exits, which made finding the suspect difficult, according to Taylor.

"Independence police spokesperson Officer Jack Taylor mentioned that the department chose social media to ask parents to pick up their children because it's the easiest way to reach people and there were many unaccompanied young people at the carnival that needed to be picked up. "Don't bring your kids up here and drop them off, don't let them be unsupervised and you stay up here with them, make sure there's a responsible adult with them," he said.

"He said there will likely be an increase in security Monday, as the festival enters its final day. He emphasized that people should still feel safe enough to get out and enjoy the festival."
