Kansas City 2021 Homicide #110: Deadly Front Lawn Shooting Overnight

The sound of shots fired resonated through urban core streets last night as police rushed to the scene of the latest gunfire report. 

This deadly scene marks the 110th homicide so far this year compared to 146 at this time last year and 113 the year before that . . . Here are the first details . . .

Homicide 4200 block of E 69th st

This morning about 12:45am officers were dispatched to 69th and Jackson initially on a sound of shots call and while officers were on the way the call was upgraded to a shooting a few houses down from the intersection.

On arrival officers were directed to the front yard of a residence there where they found an adult male shooting victim.  Officers summoned EMS to the scene who transported the victim to the hospital. 

He was declared deceased shortly after arrival at the hospital.

Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in front of the residence near where the victim was located.  There is no suspect description available at this time.

Detectives and crime scene personnel are processing the scene and canvassing for witnesses at this time.  Crime scene investigators will be gathering evidence to determine what led up to the shooting.
