Kansas City 2021 Homicide #109: Double Shooting Overnight Kills Woman

The sound of gunfire echoed through urban core streets overnight and police quickly responded to a tragic shooting scene.

Unofficially, this is the 109th homicide so far this year compared to 144 at this time last year and 112 the year before that.

Here's the first report and round-up . . .

 Homicide 300 block of Lawn

At about 1045 pm this evening, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Van Brunt on sound of shots. That call was then updated to a shooting in the 300 block of Lawn. Upon arrival officers found one adult male and one adult female both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The female victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The male victim is in critical but stable condition at this time. .An adult male subject of interest was taken into custody at the scene.

Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene. One dead, one hurt after Monday night KCMO shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - UPDATE | Two people were shot late Monday night in Kansas City, Missouri. According to the Kansas City Police Department, at about 10:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 300 block Van Brunt Boulevard on the sound of gunshots.
