Kansas City 2021 Homicide #104: Police Take Person Into Custody After Deadly Gunfire

Whilst the latest KCMO homicide marks a dramatic drop from last year's record breaking pace, the tragic number still continues along an upward trend. 

At this time in 2020 there were 137 homicides recorded. However, 2019 also witnessed the killing count at 104 around this date on the calender.

Homicide 7500 Block E 117th Place

Last night about 11:45pm officers were called to a house in the 7500 block of E 117th pl. on an ambulance call.

Officers and EMS arrived and were directed to a male who was having an unknown medical event requiring medical treatment.

The adult male victim was transported to the hospital for treatment at that time.

Hospital staff advised the victim had injuries that were preliminarily consistent with a gunshot wound.

Several hours later this morning detectives were notified that the victim had died of his injuries at the hospital.

Homicide detectives have taken over this investigation at this time, and are working with crime scene investigators processing the scene and interviewing people who were at the scene at the time of the original call.  A person of interest has been identified and taken into custody.  Detectives will be working with the prosecutor’s office to submit a casefile to them for consideration of applicable charges.
