Kansas City Woman Shot To Death Near Independence & The Paseo

Gunfire echoed through local streets tonight and this tragic report offers the first description of a horrific crime scene. 

Detectives are still investigating as KCMO counts its 101st killing so far in 2021.

Homicide: Independence and The Paseo

Tonight at 8pm, officers were called to  Independence and Garfield on a reported injury accident.  Upon arrival officers located a vehicle on its side which had apparently crashed.  Officers observed the victim, an adult female, inside the vehicle who appeared to be suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Preliminarily investigation suggests there was a shooting just to the west of Independence and Garfield.

Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the scene.  AIU detectives have also responded to the scene.  Detectives will be speaking to witnesses.  Crime Scene will be processing the scene.

Kansas City police investigate homicide at Independence, Garfield avenues

Kansas City police said they are investigating a homicide Monday night at Independence and Garfield avenues.Police were called to the area about 8 p.m. on a car crash. At the same time, authorities said that they also received reports of shots being fired in the area.When officers arrived, they found a woman in the vehicle who appeared to have been shot.

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- A woman has died in an apparent homicide late Monday night in KCMO. Police were called around 8:00 p.m. to Independence and Garfield where they found a car flipped on its side. The car had bullet holes in it.
