KANSAS CITY HITS 100 HOMICIDES IN 2021

Unofficially, we're counting 100 homicides so far this year in Kansas City. 

Thankfully, the numbers are down from last year's record homicide pace that saw 179 total killings and 126 by this date on the calendar in 2020. 

Still . . . There were only 92 homicides at this time in 2019, 88 in 2018 and 97 in 2017. Overall, www.TonysKansasCity.com sees the local quotient of violence trending upward.

Homicide 118th place and Delmar

Tonight about 11:15p officers were dispatched to 118th and Delmar on an outside disturbance.  When officers arrived they were directed to an adult male in a vehicle who was unresponsive.

Officers summoned EMS to the scene.  EMS transported the male to the hospital for treatment of what appeared to be stab injuries.  The male was declared deceased at the hospital.

Detectives have a person of interest detained at the scene for further investigation and are speaking with other people that were at the scene when officers arrived.

Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence.

If anyone has any information they are asked to call the Homicide Unit directly at 234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 474-TIPS.  There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest.
