The good news . . . Unlike the tragic disaster in Florida, this building collapse didn't hurt anyone and the structure still stands as a reminder of the horrific downtown "renaissance" dream.
However and to put things in perspective . . .
THE EMPTY WADDELL & REED BUILDING IS THE BIGGEST ECONOMIC DISASTER IN RECENT DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY HISTORY!!!
The fail belongs to the current Mayor & Council who along with the previous administration who helped the project along and were misled by corporate hacks.
And yes . . . Taxpayers are not only invested in this property, they WILL get stuck with the bill.

The $140 million office tower originally started for Waddell & Reed Financial Inc. in downtown Kansas City officially has hit the market under a rebranded name, months after the Overland Park company was sold to a new parent that said it would not occupy the building.
