The city of Independence issued a public health advisory Friday afternoon, saying COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are climbing across the Kansas City metro and the state of Missouri because of the delta variant."We're definitely seeing a surge and it is certainly expected to continue to increase over the next several weeks and months," Independence Mayor Eileen Weir said.Independence says 100% of its cases are the delta variant.
