Kansas City 2021 Homicide #79: Deadly Shooting Scene Discovered

This morning just after 09:30 officers were dispatched to 16th and Oakley on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed to a vehicle in an allleyway behind a residence mid block.  Inside the Vehicle officers found an adult male unresponsive. He appeared to have been shot.  EMS responded and declared the victim deceased here at the scene.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are canvassing for witnesses and processing the evidence here at the scene to hopefully gather information about what led up to the shooting.

If anyone has any information and has not talked to detectives yet they are asked to contact Homicide directly at 235-5043 or the TIPS hotline anonymously at 474-TIPS.  There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Unofficially this is the 79th homicide so far this year compared to 100 at this time last year, 75 in 2019, 63 in 2018 and 77 in 2017.
