Desperately Seeking Cash To Cover Kansas City Loop

Amateur urban planners are once again seeking money for a favorite local pipe dream that imagines green space connecting the Crossroads to downtown.

In theory, that would be kind of cool.

In reality . . . The cost is far too prohibitive to justify a park that would be filled with homeless encampments quickly.

KC's Downtown Council seeks grant to keep planning for I-670 deck - Kansas City Business Journal

The Downtown Council of Kansas City wants to push ahead with planning for a deck over a part of Interstate 670 that cuts through Downtown between the Central Business District and the Crossroads Arts District. The plan, which call for covering four blocks of the South Loop from Wyandotte Street to Grand Boulevard, has been percolating for more than a decade.
