Kansas City Westside Matriarch Lali Garcia Passes

One of our heroes and a beloved "tía" to thousands upon thousands of local Latinos in the Kansas City metro passed away recently.

In a public post, a longtime Kansas City agency shares community news that resonates citywide . . .

The Guadalupe Centers and the Latino community are saddened by the loss of Rafaela “Lali” Garcia.  Throughout the years, Lali’s civic and political involvement ensured that the Latino community was granted equitable resources.

Though she will be remembered for her civic, community and political accomplishments, she will mostly be remembered for her strong commitment to her faith, family and friends.  She was a devoted Catholic Church member with strong devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and specifically her Guadalupanas church service organization.

Her lifelong commitment to the Guadalupe Centers’ growth and success is unmatached and will be sorely missed.  Lali’s legacy at the Guadalupe Centers will continue on for years to come and will eternally be part of agency’s foundation.
