Quick word from Kansas City insiders as we consider every angle of this ongoing Kansas City cultural shift crisis . . . Check-it . . .
"While nobody is looking the firefighters are getting a really good deal in their budget negotiations. Fact is, the mayor just can't afford to fight with another group right now and he's going to do everything he can to keep KCFD happy. They may be the last major constituency he has left right now . . . Or least the only group that isn't in an all out war with 12th & Oak. Most of what they want it actually stuff that will improve service for residents and speed up response times. But, items on their wish list like EXPENSIVE upgrades for fire stations that have been resisted in the past are now getting much more consideration."
Credit more politically savvy FD political leadership with this power move and quickly moving forward despite recent newspaper reports targeting the KCFD with alleged systemic racism.
