Kansas City Star Joins Union To Protect Last Journalist To Turn Off The Lights

Now that the old school institution is under the control of a private equity organization, they're probably correct to worry about more rigid demands.

HOWEVER, the reality is that dead-tree media is no longer vital to local democracy and a great deal of what the paper reports no longer drives the local conversation.

Still, here's the progressive and upbeat angle . . .

Kansas City Star Journalists Announce Efforts To Unionize

Journalists at the Kansas City Star have announced a campaign to form a union. Around 40 newsroom employees, excluding editors and editorial board members, have presented the Star's management with a request for voluntary recognition as the Kansas City News Guild. Veteran investigative reporter Mike Hendricks is one of the organizers of the guild.

  1. Huh? Do those journalists think we care about them? LOL!

  2. ^^^ You should. Mostly because you're an idiot.

  3. A little late to unionize don’t you think? I thought the owners of the commie red star were stupid, it turns out that their employees are even more stupid! Hahahahaha!

  4. The Fading Star. Buh-bye.

  5. Wow, day late and dollar short on that one. They will be gone long before any negotiation with a union could occur even if the hedge fund owner agreed to recognize without a vote. Borrowed time is an understatement for the remaining time they have as Star employees.

And here's the unpopular opinion with the majority of the group on this blog, the Star's demise has almost nothing to do with their politics. It was their complete abondonment of their journalistic responsibility as the fourth estate that did them in. Once they were fully "on the take" from the City with their tax abatement, they could no longer hold elected officials accountable and their usefulness disappeared.

  6. lol this is pathetic on their part, as is par for the course and all but ensures they will be out of business MUCH sooner than any of us anticipated. peace out dipshits

  8. The seeds of their demise goes back even further than Yael Abouha-what's his ass. It is written all over the educational system since The 20s. So the really "smart" ones are indoctrinated by The Ivy leagues and those who want to seem enlightened and get laid follow suit. Soon they just want a job, and prostitutes like Jenee Osterherpes become the norm. If you can't even structure a paragraph about SnoopDoggs latest woke album, don't worry, The editor will fix it for you. The Devil is very patient, and now he is ready to quicken his agenda.

  9. ^^You sound really, really, dumb Maude. Do better.

  10. Being a Libtard paper, the Kansas Shitty Star should welcome any union efforts with open arms. To not do so would be going against Basement Bide and the Libtard way.

  11. 6:49 - Do better with commas. You still suck at it.

  12. McClatchy would probably shut down the Star before it would allow it to be unionized.

  13. F--k the Red Star and the leftist that hang on there.

  14. A "union" negotiating with the owners of the Star would be like administering oxygen to a corpse.
Are the "reporters" really so out of it that they haven't noticed that the paper is dead?
Well, maybe not quite. But it's beginning to smell funny.
These folks really do live in a la la land of their own invention!

  15. They didn’t give a shot about the print jobs they lost or the dozens of others they shit on. They attack every union in the area and now act like they need help. Go fuck yourselves….

  16. Journalists? That's funny. There are no journalists at the Star. Real journalists are objective. The workers at the Star are just mouthpieces for the Democratic Party.

  17. The Kansas Shitty Star reporters need to be paid by the Demoncrapic National Committee. They do their bidding every day. Let's do a negative story about Hawley, Pompeo, Marshall or some other Republican every day ad nauseum. No wonder they went bankrupt. They went morally many bankrupt years ago.

  18. What's the Kansas City Star?
