Kansas City Standoff Suspect In Custody After Rifle Gunfire Threats


Whilst this town slept, overnight KCPD had their hands full with this situation that thankfully ended without loss of life . . .

Here's the report . . .

Just after 9 PM, officers were dispatched to the 9800 block of North Cherry in regard to a DV assault. Upon officers arrival, two people exited the residence, one the victim of an assault. At that time officers could see the suspect inside with a rifle. Officers got the victims to safety and set up a perimeter in an attempt to deescalate the situation and secure the scene. During that time the suspect was threatening to shoot people.The suspect then fired shots at officers and officers return fire. No officers have been injured.

Negotiators continued communications with the suspect. Around 315am, officers were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect had what appeared to be a non life threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives and crime scene personnel are still actively working the scene. There is no further information at this time.
