Kansas City Police Investigate East Side Suspicious Death

Here's the latest after a call for help amid a body found near the weeds.

Reporting so far in what could be the 57th KCMO homicide compared to 60 at this time last year . . .

This morning about 10:45 Officers were dispatched to the area of 56th Terr. and Elmwood on a dead body call.  Officers located a deceased adult male at that location near the street outside a home.

The circumstances surrounding the death are suspicious and not known, and out of caution the Homicide Unit is investigating.  The death does not appear to be natural.  Crime Scene investigators and Detectives have processed the scene and will be working with the medical examiner for positive identification of the deceased, as well as cause of death.

Investigators take every precaution in these cases in the event the medical examiner rules the death a homicide later.  They will continue to investigate the circumstances.

If anyone has any information or saw anything in this area this morning they are asked to call the Homicide Unit directly at 234-5043, or the TIPS Hotline at 474-TIPS anonymously.  There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved Homicide in Kansas City.
