KANSAS CITY FACE-OFF: TAKEOUT OUR OUTDOOR DINING?!?

For this final post on Friday night wherein we spent most of the day doing lawn work in between the rain and lugging around junk . . . We pose a question to our blog community regarding the economic recovery in the aftermath of the pandemic.

A dilemma for the current American historical epoch and because it came to mind whilst concentrating to hard on a Carl's Jr advert . . .

DECIDE: KANSAS CITY TAKEOUT OR OUTDOOR DINING?!?!?

Sorry . . . But we have to go with takeout for all time, before & after the plague and for the remainder of the "normal" that's not so new . . .

Our reasoning . . .

- Kansas City outdoor dining is too expensive. Meanwhile, takeout, drive-thru and delivery are affordable and accessible for almost every social strata.

- The restaurant social distancing rules have collapsed. Listening to other people's conversation is even more boring than enduring an awkward meetup with a frenemy. Outdoor dining is dominated by poseurs who want to be seen whereas takeout caters to guilty pleasures and "cheat day" feasting.

- Kansas City doesn't have the right climate for outdoor dining. It's either cold as hell, raining or there's sweltering heat and/or stifling humidity. The only upside of the bad weather when it comes to the foodie scene is watching all the middle-class creeps stew in their own juices as they suffer an overpriced meal.

And so, we hope we've given the late night crowd something to consider as the weather warms up and restaurants attempt to lure back local crowds.

Developing . . .
