Kansas City 2021 Homicide #62: Man Shot Dead This Morning

The sound of gunfire echoing through an East side neighborhood alerted police to the latest deadly Kansas City crime scene.

It was a noticeably quiet weekend but this overnight murder hints at more trouble on the way.

Check the report from KCPD on what is, unofficially, the 62nd homicide so far in this cowtown compared to 68 at this time last year . . .

This morning just before 2am officers were called to 37th and Montgall on a sound of shots call.  While en route to the call it was updated to a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed to a vacant lot mid block south of 37th and Montgall.  They located an adult male there just off the street who had been shot, and was unresponsive.

EMS responded and transported the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives will be canvassing the surrounding area for any witnesses and crime scene investigators will be processing the scene for any evidence.

1 person shot, killed early Monday morning

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating after a person was found shot at 37th Terrace and Montgall Avenue early Monday morning. The call initially came in around 2 a.m. The victim was taken to a hospital where he later died.
