Insider: Kansas City Police Defund Duplicates Jackson County COMBAT!!!

Tonight we share a quick word from a 12th & Oak insider who share an EXCEPTIONAL perspective on budget battles over crime funding.

The upshot . . .

KCPD DEFUND/REALLOCATION TO REDUCE HOMICIDES SOUNDS A LOT LIKE PROGRAMS JACKSON COUNTY'S COMBAT ANTI-DRUG TAX ALREADY OFFERS!!!

The punch line is that millions upon millions haven't really helped to lower the crime rate.

Here's the word . . .

"Go and look at the COMBAT website. The programs that Mayor Lucas is talking about to reduce crime already exist. Jackson County taxpayers fund them to the tune of MILLIONS every year. Have they helped lower crime or the murder count? COMBAT directly funds diversion officers, intervention and training for police along with community interaction . . . Sure, there are a few brights spots but overall it's a slush fund for activists, community leaders and social programs."

  3. At least people get to vote on COMBAT.

Defund the police is worse. No public comment at all.

  4. Jackson County COMBAT is one of the worst examples of anti-crime funding in the KC metro. However, I have to admit that the voters keep approving it year after year.
