KCMO takes important step towards decriminalizing walking and biking

Since the summer of 2020, BikeWalkKC has advocated for the decriminalization of walking and biking. In a letter to Mayor Quinton Lucas , we identified three portions of the municipal code which effectively criminalized the activities of walking and biking: In January, Mayor Quinton Lucas introduced Ordinance #210100 to address these measures.

  1. Here he goes again with the racist rant woe is me I'm black. Lucas needs to understand that it mostly black people who deliberately walk in front of cars and deliberately block streets to riot. so don't pull this blacks are targeted BS we are sick of it and we know the truth about why black people get in trouble more.

Hey Lucas L is for Losers and you are a LOSER.

  3. BikeWWalk KC is a progressive socialist boondoggle. Where is the public clamor for better access for bikes? It is non-existent. They are spending MILLIONS to retrofit streets with bike lanes that decrease traffic capacity, cause driver confusion, and don't improve safety.
Buses are free, and many have bike racks. Many of the existing bike trails are in serious disrepair. Why not fix them first, before expanding bike lanes. The reason is of course, that BikeWalkKC is promoting a social agenda, not workable solutions for KC.

  4. haven't seen 1 person riding a bike in a bike lane ever.

What is a bike in poor working condition, no handle bars, no seat, no tire, missing peddle, no light reflectors, what?

  5. defund bike/walk KC

  6. It is difficult to car jack someone without being in the street. That’s why criminalisation of jaywalking is racist.

  7. Once again, the clownish electeds in KCMO choose priorities that no one with any common sense would even consider.
    Homicides, street repair, budget discipline?
    Not a chance.
KCMO has become an even bigger joke than it's been in past administrations.
Children playing make-believe at city government.
    Sad.

  9. I walk in the bike lanes all the time just to piss bikers off, they yell, scream and cuss at me but I remind them of what assholes they were when they were running people over on the sidewalks

  10. "important" this is a joke. What this really is is the clowncil are nothing more than a bunch of activists who are on the taxpayer dime. It's time for people to vote all of them out and get people in there that will work for the good of the people and not this activist crap

  11. ^and yet the people voted them in, and every single recall vote has never materialized past the petition stage. Must be what the people want. Deal with it or die paw-paw. Weird.

  12. 9:44 poor logic at best

  13. ^and yet completely true and absolutely dead on the money. So weird.

  14. no it's not. 2+2 does not equal 10.

  15. ^^and yet he was complete right and absolutely dead on the money though so....weird.

  16. lol, still no.
Just bc a handful of people allowed them to win and no one ran off en masse to sign a recall petition for lucas does not mean 'it' is what people want. For example: eric bunch had 6,211 votes, Geoffrey Jolley 5,992. Of those, how many actually knew much of anything about either candidate is unknown.
deal with it, roll over, and play dead.

  17. ^^and yet he's STILL right though and you're still wrong. Oh say, how about you recall them then? Oh, that's right...we tried that it didn't work. i.e. the people want the ones they voted for, and recalls never work. Dead on the money. Again. Weird.

  19. i think some black people just disassociate when a white person says the word "no" to them. Activates the chip on their shoulder.

  20. where was bike/walk KC when city was vacating Woodland at independence avenue? has been forever closed to bikes and pedestrians now. it was even marked "bike lane"

woodland was nice and wide and how a lot of cyclists accessed northeast and crossed independence avenue.

here this advocacy group doing stupid and counterproductive moves like this. city wasn't even enforcing these ordinances. if you even asked the random cop to cite these ordinances, these are pretty obscure!

and then they brag about out as if they have done something

KC has a bumper crop of non profit hustles going on this year.

we need more enforcement of traffic laws. some motorists are very inclined to drive aggressively if they think the cops aren't going to bother them. we are already seeing this phase now. KC needs more police enforcing traffic laws, red lights especially.

  21. ^^OK Maude. How about we start by ticketing the geriatric fucktards who do the speed limit or below in the fast lane on the highway. How about that CHUD.

Did any of these clowns have any understanding of what they actually passed? Here's the amended 70-268:

Sec. 70-268. Wheels and tires to be clean.

No person shall operate any vehicle within this city, the wheels or tires of which carry onto or deposit in any street, highway, alley or other public place, mud, dirt, sticky substances, litter or foreign matter of any kind, with the exception of bicycles and electric micromobility devices under 50cc horsepower.

What, exactly, is "50cc horsepower" in an electric motor and where is defined? I'd say you can't make this stuff up but KCMO's government keeps proving you really can.

    ReplyDelete
  23. everyone can take their 50 cc scooter off road in the deep mud then conveniently scoot on over to the bike lanes in downtown!
