KCPS Superintendent Bedell signed on through 2024

The Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) Board of Directors voted during an executive session on March 31 to extend Superintendent Mark Bedell's contract through the 2023-2024 school year. This is the third contract extension of Bedell's tenure, which began on July 1, 2016.

  1. Clever maneuvering by the current board to extend the contract and approve a raise just days prior to an election that could very well change the majority that have supported these moves.
So KCPS continues on the path that it's been on for decades, mostly a gravy train for superintendents, a slush fund for contractors with board insiders, and a disaster for the young people.
    It never changes.
    Sad.
