News of a Saturday night shooting ends the MSM news cycle as the local homicide count continues to spike over last year's record breaking pace.

This evening just after 8:30pm, Officers were dispatched to the area of 60th and Blue Hills on a reported shooting. Upon arrival, some witnesses advised they heard gunshots and directed officers to the area of the shots. Officers began canvassing the area and located the victim, an adult black male, in the 6000 block of Highland. The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene. They will be processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for additional witnesses.

Again, this is the 43rd homicide so far this year compared to 39 at this time last year. Unofficially, this represents a little more than a 10% spike year to date.
