KANSAS CITY E-TAX SAYS WINNING 2021!!!

The Kansas City sheeple have spoken.

Just as our blog community predicted . . .

KANSAS CITY E-TAX PROVES VICTORIOUS ONCE AGAIN BY MORE THAN 50 POINTS!!!

Forgive the lack of surprise.

Again, we remind readers that there was no organized opposition and this ballot question designed by Missouri tax fighters has been nothing more than a tremendous waste of time and unnecessary cost.

To be fair, the E-tax is an outdated relic and representative of a bygone era wherein people actually expected trash backs and neighborhood services for their cash.

In the current post-capitalist epoch, quite a bit of KCMO taxpayer cash funds social justice, homeless housing, tourism, development speculation and continued efforts to mandate diversity and equity.

Fair warning . . .

Telecommuting and Internets tech is already quickly draining revenue from this source.

Moreover, the slap in the face to our Johnson County neighbors has always engendered hard feelings from suburban critics.

Nevertheless . . . Check the end game of low voter turnout and public support for a longstanding late capitalism gambit that hopes to maintain the status quo despite diminishing returns:

Kansas City Question 1

Yes - 29,426 - 77.3%

No - 8,658 - 22.7%

Never heard employees complain as much as they do now having to pay the 1% earnings tax.

The E-Tax coupled with the homicides and other downtown violence is going to force more companies to move out of KCMO to Johnson County, Liberty, Lees Summit etc. in order to recruit the good employees.

For pete's sake there are men with machetes roaming downtown Kansas City attacking people.

    ReplyDelete
  12. As alluded to @7:48, the 1% is less important than the fact that better run cities do not have to impose this kind of bullshit on their citizens and other across city limits employees to function.

It just points out how fucked up the folks running this city are, and how dependent they are on this fake mechanism. And the city still continues to decline into Mogadishu MO.

  14. I used to work in KCMO and had to pay the E-Tax. I wondered then and still to this day I wondered what did that tax pay for.

Is it roads? They are the worst in the city.

Safety? Crime, murder, and homelessness are on the rise.

The T-Moile Center? For no NBA or NHL team and a Big 12 basketball tournament that will move to Texas soon?

All the tax does is penalize people for either living or working in KCMO.

    ReplyDelete
  15. This is just a victory for the usual consultants, insiders, special pleaders, endless victimized groups, and outright grifters.
The trough will be kept full for the time being and the additional money from the feds will create such an abundance of cash that even less of it will be spent wisely and accountably than ever.
But after the pandemic there will be an increasing number of companies with large numbers of employees working from home and NOT in KCMO and there have already been legal decisions that those folks don't have to pay a tax to an adjoining jurisdiction.
The e-tax will continuously decline in future years and may disappear altogether if it's abused sufficiently to have the state legislature work to eliminate it.
KCMO had better start getting serious about how the city government is funded.
Magical money isn't going to drop out of the sky forever.

The pretense that "serious" people are in charge in KC, or, in Washington D.C. is preposterous. These fuckers should be Peter Principled out when they reach the lofty employment heights of working for Jeff Bezos, tossing packages onto a conveyor belt.

The "Stimmy", like the "E" tax is supposed to bring us peace and prosperity by way of "shovel ready jobs". What a fuckin joke. Even if there were "shovel ready jobs" ready for the "Hidden Figure" morons that Joe Biden will place in charge of them, the regulations and corruption, not to mention the REAL purpose of the money (Bread and Circus handouts to the Roman/American mob) would stop any and every effort to actually improve the lives of everyday Americans.

"With the passage of the latest stimulus package, the public debt is approaching $30 trillion, which is nearly 50% more than one year’s GDP. Rational economists worry about the interest payments on that debt, which is approaching $400 billion annually. They also worry about a potential capital shortage for business, since government is taking so much away from capital markets.

The mainstream media (MSM) seems to be hiding the magnitude of the debt. At present the public debt is about $27 trillion, since $3 trillion of the stimulus packages has yet to be spent. Since GDP will be about $21 trillion this year, the debt is 128% of GDP. Yet the MSM says it is only 107% of GDP.

That is misleading because the 107% represents the debt owed directly to the public which is about $22 trillion. The difference is that the MSM does not count the nearly $5 trillion of debt that was created by the Federal Reserve as they simply printed money to pay for the bonds they purchased. Still the Federal government, over time, has spent $30 trillion more than they raised in tax revenue.

While it may seem that the government is giving away free money, this is likely to be the most expensive free money that anyone has ever received."

The Government, is, as usual, lying and manipulating, for short term gain at the expense of those who make money through the sweat of their brown, power and sinecure by way of votes from those who take money by way of voting for Socialist/Fascist scum.

    https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2020/05/9816335/grocery-prices-rising-more-expensive-coronavirus-impact

"According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — the same government entity responsible for tallying our devastating job losses — the prices of bakery products, eggs, fish, meat, poultry, non-alcoholic beverages, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables all experienced spikes during the month of April. So, no, it's not you. Groceries are more expensive.

Eggs alone saw a jump of 16.1% but bakery products and cereal saw their "largest monthly increase ever," with 2.9% — no doubt partially due to all the anxiety bakers in quarantine. The index for non-alcoholic beverages also rose 2.9% while the indexes for dairy products as well as fruits and vegetables both rose 1.5%. Overall, the cost of food at home saw its largest monthly increase since February 1974.
It's important to note that a 2.9% increase, for example, does not mean the cost of bakery products went up 2.9%. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the average change in price for certain consumer goods and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes a monthly summary of the latest updates. So while it doesn't necessarily mean your local flour bag is 2.9% more expensive, the index does measure an upward trend in the cost of groceries. In short, grocery items are getting more expensive."

This is just food, lumber costs are up 400%. The wire I buy for electrical is up 50%.

Gas at the pump has not gone up yet, only because OPEC stated they were going to increase output due to variables I won't go into here. That is short term 10:49, so, yes, get ready to pay way the hell more for gas too, in the foreseeable future.

OK. Prices are up right now. Eggs are cyclical. I know American memories are short, but in the not too distant past eggs were nearing $3.00 a dozen, and that was under St. Donald. (I paid $1.61 last week at Aldi.) Building supplies are up because of demand caused by an extremely hot housing and remodeling market which will not last forever. Prices will come back down.

Pie in the sky horseshit from the usual liars. INFLATION IS HERE!

"The rapid recovery and rise after the pandemic started was caused by an unprecedented amount of fiscal and monetary stimulus. The Federal Reserve cut already historically low interest rates to near zero. It promised to ignore inflation and support the corporate debt market, and it made an almost unlimited amount of liquidity available.

Congress spent massive amounts of money that it did not possess to jump start the virus-fueled economic shutdowns. There have now been three direct-to-citizen cash stimulus, and trillions of dollars of other spending, on many things not even related to the virus that continue even though the economy is growing. How long can this artificial environment last?

Now we are being told that the almost $2 trillion spent on just the last stimulus package is not enough and we should spend another $3 trillion on infrastructure. If we ran our households like this, we would all be bankrupt. To see how fast the debt is growing, visit usdebtclock.org. Scary!"

    https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2019/jul/29/tweets/republican-presidents-democrats-contribute-deficit/

While Republicans often claim that they are the more fiscally responsible party, my research suggests otherwise. Compared to Democratic presidents, Republicans are estimated to add between 0.75% and 1.2% more to the deficit (as a percent of GDP) each year they are in office. This result controls for economic conditions, and explains 75% of the variation in the annual changes to deficits.

    https://towardsdatascience.com/which-party-adds-more-to-deficits-a6422c6b00d7

The notion that the GOP is the party of fiscal responsibility is one of the most persistent myths in American politics. Republican presidential administrations have consistently driven up the deficit—the amount that government spending exceeds revenue—over the past four decades. The 1981 tax cut signed into law by Ronald Reagan, which slashed the rate for the highest earners from 70 to 50 percent, “led to an explosion in the budget deficit, hitting close to 6 percent of gross domestic product in 1983” The Washington Post’s Daniel Drezner observed last year.
