Kansas City Doesn't Want To Work

Reactionaries scorn locals who won't go out and bust their hump for a pittance but that might not make financial sense as the pandemic persists and playing video games whilst waiting for more stimmy is a better financial deal.

Moreover . . .

A more inspiring trend that we're also hearing about reveals that service industry workers transitioned into warehouse and other Internets work and have found a way to make a living without taking abuse from the public. Even if most some of those "opportunities" are pr0n . . . We understand the tough decisions and respect everyone's hustle.

Thousands of jobs available across Kansas City metro going unfilled

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Thousands of jobs are available across the Kansas City metro, but the positions remain unfilled. Low-paying retail jobs aren't the only means of employment to be had. Employment agencies across the metro complain they're not getting enough applicants for these jobs, which range from office work to healthcare to retail to tech.

  1. "Thousands of jobs available across Kansas City metro going unfilled"

And every one of those jobs would be filled in an instant if they paid enough to attract applicants. Weird.

    1. Yea 100%! When you can stay home and be as broke sitting on your ass drawing unemployment, why would you want to leave the comfort of your home? Other than to go use an EBT card to get your free food? Seriously, pay people a living wage and they'll come running to fill out applications . Simple solution to a problem we're going to be talking about till Sept

  2. Sometimes trying times can be the stimulus to try something better. An acquaintance had a low paying job in a coffee shop that was well below his level of education and expertise, but he was satisfed. His boss reluctantly lad him off, but he started looking and got a position that pays geometrically more in his field. He told me that he would have never looked if he hadn't been laid off. That layoff was the best thing that ever happened to him. Another friend had a job she hated and lost it during the pandemic. She always thought working in a home garden center would be a wonderful job, and now she is doing it. Money is a little tight, but she is SO HAPPY with her new duties that she doesn't even consider it work.

We can't always assume that things must ALWAYS remain the same. People can adapt, circumstances and opportunities change, and life goes on. We just cannot pay people to remain the same (see the above article about homelessness).

    1. After 23 years in a sucky banking job, a RIF forced me to look at what else I could do and I changed careers. Thankful for that opportunity.

  3. 5:44 bullshit, Amazon, fed ex, gm, Ford are all hiring at great wages so what’s your excuse now? Unemployment paying to well to get you off the couch and interrupting your video game playing schedule?

    Shut up pussy boi.

  4. Why should they work they get everything for free. This is the democrat way to control the people and people slither right into their trap.

  5. And yet everyone has a price. Pay 'em enough, and they'll work. An article in today's Wall Street Journal put the price at about $24 an hour. If that's out of an employer's league, that's kinda tough, ain't it?

  6. Nobody talks about money spent on the messed up bus lines where KCPD can shut down a route just because of a murder or drug deal and those conditions continue to rise. So maybe we need to look at KCPD as the problem because that's the only thing to go unchecked.

  7. Printing free money, will "Kill The Kulaks". It is death to the middle class for this administration and they are serious about turning this country into Venezuela, where people like Maduro do great there and people like the Biden Crime family and elites in Washington D.C. have "One Ring To Rule Them All".

  15. Business needs to stop exploiting workers with their low wages. I saw a server job available for 5 dollars an hour. I know for a fact that the restaurant doesn't have enough customers for the server to make a living wage in tips.

  16. There are good paying jobs out there to be had. My Dad is retired and headhunters are trying to get him to go back to work at 72. Their reasoning is lack of skilled workers in his field. Kids now days are coming out of their education years dumber than a box of rocks. They are handed diplomas they don't deserve. I'm a crane operator and other companies are trying to steal me from where I work. Guy I went to school with runs a HVAC company says they can't find good help anymore he has the business but not enough people. Sure many clowns out there saying they are educated but have no experience and expect to be hired into a top position over working their way up like people use to do not all that many years ago. I saw a guy quit the other day because he was told to use a wheelbarrow to move some material around claiming he wasn't hired to do such work. He was hired as a laborer, that's the kind of work they do. I started out as one myself years ago only difference was I got an education and training to be an operator.

  18. 9:49: Best comment on the thread! The PBS NewsHour had a couple of segments not long ago about how people in trade easily earn six figures these days while those with college degrees struggle to find a job. The last time I needed a plumber I paid $100 an hour and was happy to do so. We need to consider whether a degree really pays.

  19. My oldest daughter went to nursing school and is making more money at 35 than I did. She's a NICU Nurse knocking down over 100k a year with more overtime than she wants to work or will work. Her younger sister got off to a slower start in the field of computers but now she is getting a decent wage after working her wat to the top.

There is a demand for skilled workers that pays good wages and it isn't working at Mickey D's where you will find them working just 20 hours a week.

  22. If you can't afford to pay your employees a decent wage then close. People shouldn't be making more in unemployment than working. The problem is with the corporations not the government. Also stop reporting your own employees to the IRS in order to get a tax break. If you are that cheap and scummy then you should be put out of business.

  23. Stop exploiting your employees. I've seen bartender and server jobs advertised for 4-7 dollars an hour knowing that the places are not busy enough now in order for their employees to make the tips needed in order to make a decent wage. I also know a lot of the clientele is cheap and doesn't tip appropriately anyways. Pay employees more and you will have great ones who apply.

  27. In this economy it's possible to work yourself into disability at the age of 40 or 50 years old. If that's all the working population has to look forward to then fuck it. Let capitalism die and let the planet die with it if that's what it takes to end this fail American Experiment.
