Faith in KC: How ministers address social issues in worship?

KANSAS CITY, MO - How does a minister decide when to address social issues during a worship service sermon? How should they talk about it? Is it even appropriate to do so? These are the questions that 41 Action News anchor Taylor Hemness discusses with Pastor Darron Edwards of United Believers Community Church in this edition of Faith in KC.

  1. Do just a little research and you will find that "social justice" is diametrically opposed to the Gospel. It is also opposite of the very good justice system laid out in the old testament. Race, color,or past sins of parents-sons-daughters, is to never be considered. Interestingly, the Bible has very, very little to say on the subject of race. It makes it clear that we are all human and ancestors of one coupling. It does indicate that all the races that follow will have their gifts and weaknesses, but that ideology is what really seperates the tribes.

  2. Does this mean that at least some of the revs might address social issues in their community by encouraging people to stop senselessly killing each other.
    Pray that it's true!
