Charges filed against Brit Reid for driving while intoxicated and causing crash near Arrowhead

A criminal charge of driving while intoxicated and causing the vehicular crash near Arrowhead Stadium, severely injuring a 5-year-old girl, was filed today against former Chiefs coach Britt Reid, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

According to court records filed today, Reid was driving on Feb. 4, 2021, near Interstate 435 and Stadium Drive in Kansas City while under the influence of alcohol and acted with criminal negligence by driving at an excessive rate of speed, failing to be aware of a disabled vehicle, striking it and causing physical injury to a child in that vehicle, age 5. A police investigation of the crash determined that Reid was driving a truck that was traveling nearly 84 mph just 1.9 seconds before the crash. A test of his blood serum after the crash showed his blood alcohol concentration to be at .113.  The 5-year-old injured in the crash, according to medical records, suffered severe traumatic brain injury, a parietal fracture, brain contusions and subdural hematomas.

Recent changes in the DWI statutes by the Missouri Legislature limit the number of charges that the prosecutor's office could pursue, given the evidence in the case, said Jackson County Prosecutor Baker. But Baker said her office will vigorously pursue these charges and Reid is not receiving any favorable treatment from Kansas City police or the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office. Baker noted she recently communicated with the child victim's family, through their attorney.

Reid will be surrendering today with his attorney and will be booked. The Prosecutor's Office requested a $100,000/10 percent bond and requested that the defendant be placed on GPS and alcohol monitoring.

Mean Jean is doing the right thing. Good for her.

Let's see if the white, geezer, GOP representative from Kansas who drove the wrong way on the highway, gets charged for a DUI.

$100,000 10% is a higher bond than some murders of the few murder, shooting, and carjacking suspects she charges. Key word few.

^^^^^truth. High bond for a high profile case. Her office doesn’t give violent crime suspects who are a greater danger that high of bonds. And if they do, the judge drops it lower later

The Libtards found out he voted for Trump. So they're trying to give him lethal injection.

$100,000 (or any percent of) is peanuts to these privileged assholes.
You don't think that Pops can't slam down his VISA on the counter and walk out with this prick?

Its already decided, he gets probation. He will move to Florida. It took a bit of a bribe, but its a done deal!

The prosecution is going to have to prove that criminal negligence beyond a reasonable doubt caused the wreck. That might not be so easy to do, given the difficulty of seeing a car parked on the on-ramp pavement with no flashers. The excessive speed might be the determining factor in this case.

BAC being .113, possibly a factor

Lets keep going and put this guy in prison. Do the right thing. That little girl deserves justice. Ruin him like he ruined her. Make him an example.

^^who's "let's"? You aren't involved. Mind your own fucking business.

Overcharging the case to try to put on a show for the "woke" crowd.
Bonfire of the Vanities.
Conviction unlikely.
Peters-Baker's incompetence and role as a political hack strikes again!

Any regular pleb would have been immediately charged and held in jail. God-damned rigged system.

3:49. Criminal court brings justice upon the criminal. Civil upon the victim.

FILING A CHARGE IS ONE THING, FOLLOWING THROUGH TO CONVICTION IS QUITE ANOTHER

Anticipate a Jean Peters Baker "restorative justice" plea deal forthcoming:

Reid apologizes to the victim's family, makes a payment, and promises not to drink or abuse drugs while Baker slaps his hand.

Don't call it soft-on-crime, call it "alternative sentencing"!

Bribe accepted. He get probation. Moving to Florida. The Chiefs charge higher ticket prices.

A terrible tragedy for the little girl and her parents. Maybe the best approach for parents is try to get a relative to pick up their children if the car is stalled on the shoulder of the road while they try to get a tow truck or fix the car.

I think law enforcement advises car occupants to vacate a stalled vehicle and stand on the other side of the ditch in case something like this happens. Unfortunately where their car broke down the neighborhood is unsafe to be standing outside of your car.

A real bad situation and hope the little girl miraculously recovers 100%.

Does Andy have any other idiot kids he wants to employ

Wow dude, or maybe had mister assistant coach not been driving 83.9mph in rush hour traffic on 435 while drunk this wouldn't have happened. Blaming the victims, typical.

@1:12 am - Kohl - I can see where the post might infer blaming the parents and that was not the intent. Rather, just extra cautionary advice for parents in the future to protect their children from drunks driving 83 mph. Reid was at fault not the parents.
