Clay County auditor talks about 'damage control' for county finances
Clay County's auditor announced this week the county has realized about $140,000 in savings since the start of the year after canceling outside legal firms and asking for a cash rebate on county credit cards.Victor Hurlbert said the county is performing damage control after spending from the previous administration.KMBC 9 News has done extensive reporting about the trouble with Clay County government over the past couple of years.Namely, issues stem from a county commission that could not get along.Two commissioners, Gene Owen and Luann Ridgeway, often formed a powerful voting alliance against Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte.
