Boomer Phone Reprogram Reminder

In the ongoing mass surveillance effort . . . THEY want more accurate information from people looking to make a call.

Here's the latest tech procedure that demands unwitting compliance:

Mandatory 10-digit dialing set to begin for Missouri area code

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Missouri callers, get set to dial more digits. Starting April 24, you'll dial 10 instead of 7 digits for local calls. The affected area codes include 314, 417, 660 and 816. So here's how it'll work. You'll dial one, the area code and then the number.

  1. We haven't been able to dial seven digits for about 20 years. Is this an early April Fools joke?

  8. WTF ? is this article from 1995.

  9. it's nostalgic to see business advertisements with seven-digit phone numbers.

geezers have an advantage in having memorized telephone exchanges but millenials are lost (as with everything practical).

  10. So we have to dial 10 numbers just to keep some fool from sticking their head in the oven?

  11. We have just been dialing 9 digits, not ten.

So we will have to change every contact on our Contacts file. Add the 1.
As 5:57 said, to support the Suicide hotline.

they havent started this in the 913.
Where most of my contacts are just 7 digits currently.

    Oy veh. Codependent rescue.
It would have been easier to just address this at the hotline's phone.
    But of course, too thoughtful.

    One less freedom.
