Social Justice Fear Holds Kansas City Sideshow Street Racing Crackdown

The mayor earned a few nice headlines for TALK of getting tough on illegal street racing. However, behind the scenes, concern about 'equity' in terms of enforcement has delayed any new legislative action.

To be fair, it's still pretty illegal to block streets and drive recklessly in order to garner social media status and po-po seem to be pushing back against cowtown Internets celebrities.

KC mayor proposes tougher penalties for street racing, sideshows

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - People watching illegal street racing in Kansas City, Missouri, may soon face a fine, under a proposal the mayor introduced. A KCMO City Council committee reviewed the proposal Wednesday for the first time. The Transportation, Infrastructure and Operations Committee opted to hold the proposal for further discussion on March 17.

  1. Q still ignoring black on black crime.

  2. ^^^ exactly, why isn’t he pushing for tougher penalties on murder?

It’s a crying damn shame that the penalties he is proposing now for street racing and sideshows is more than what’s currently being given to murderers. Why isn’t he going after murderers with the same vengeance as the 100% harmless racing and sideshows? What are the current laws for street racing right now?

    Dimwits and they’re meaningless priorities.

  3. ^^and yet moron, it's not the mayor's responsibility to go after murderers. Dumbass. Weird.

  4. Lucas focuses on people just out enjoying themselves while the murder rate goes for another record. Esp in black neighborhoods.

  5. ^^OK Boomer. You can't stop people from killing people. Don't pretend to care about the black neighborhood either you fucking dolt.

  6. I'm sure there are laws on the books already that they could be charged with and are not being enforced. So what mayor Lucas says is just that. Lucas crap. He's not going to do a thing and everyone knows it. He's really a weak spinless little person. Racist too.

  10. 11:33 you ignorant bitch!

If what you say is true then it's not the mayor's responsibility to go after street racers.

    How about you just STFU!

  11. The fact that the mayor does absolutely nothing about black on black murders proves he is not down for the struggle.

He just wants cleaver's job and African Americans can continue to slaughter each other.

  12. ^^and nobody, including you cares. And yet you continue to talk about it as if anyone's interested. Weird.

  13. 12:42 is correct...the laws on the books cover these things but aren't being enforced.

Though, to KCPD's credit they have started to be more proactive.

What's appalling is the people doing this seem to think the city should provide an area or event space for them to do these things.

The city (broke ass as it is) has no business providing anything other than police to enforce the laws. And they will until the activists claim it's racist. And it appears TKC is stirring up that debate by his headline (social justice fears), and yet there is nothing in the news report about
    any social justice concerns.

So, yes, TKC is a race baiter as we see with other headlines and his editorial comments.

    1. Or, maybe the utter silliness and hypocrisy regarding so-called 'diversity issues' is worth highlighting at all times.

And I guess race-baiting is ok if you're Carwash Cleaver, Mayor McDrinkerson, or assorted members of our clowncil. Weird!
