Kansas City Star Imagines Mayor Quinton Lucas As Next Missouri Senator

On this beautiful Monday, the newspaper is now running satire and rampant speculation in what might be an effort to get done with work early and possibly make it to the park.

Here's the premise of an afternoon joke . . .

To be fair, the quote from Mayor Lucas seems to entertain the consider of the headline . . .

Lucas confirmed in a statement Monday afternoon that he was keeping the door open to the possibility.

“I rise each day thinking about how I can best serve the people of Kansas City and Missouri, and I will consider over the next several weeks whether that is in a statewide position — something no African American has ever done,” he said. “Today, I remain focused on leading our City through the COVID-19 pandemic and our economic recovery.”

Accordingly . . .

WITH KANSAS CITY TEETERING ON THE BRINK OF BANKRUPTCY AND KEEPING UP WITH LAST YEAR'S HISTORIC HOMICIDE COUNT, SHAME ON MAYOR Q FOR EVEN CONSIDERING HIGHER OFFICE!!!

You decide . . .

  1. Give credit where it's due Tony. One of your readers called it this morning!

  2. Mayor McDrinkerson's incompetence and cluelessness are now legendary. Everything he's touched has turned to crap, and he's done absolutely nothing but promote himself.

    ReplyDelete
  3. He is too stupid. Missouri will not vote for a stupid ass who can’t handle a city.

  4. I was never sure if The Star had jumped the shark . . . until now.

Odds are good that the Dems will run Kander, mostly because he brings about a zillion dollars of out-of-state donations, and oodles of fawning coverage from the national pres. Nicole Galloway will try to get the nod, but she'll fail spectacularly.

Don't be surprised if Greitens tries to be the Republican candidate. Sounds nuts, but there's no other Missouri republican that has his name recognition (of course . . . in his case . . . it's mostly bad)

The Republicans may lose this seat.

  7. The falling stars only source of life support comes from tkc. Tony, its time to do the merciful thing and pull the plug.

  8. TKC readers also "called" Lucas's certain recall vote and Trump's certain reelection.

  9. I hope the Mayor runs but he needs to resign first.

  10. NIGGA PLEASE

  11. This is why KC has so many problems. It’s mayors only use the job as a stepping stone to Washington DC
Except Funkhouser. He actually tried to fix things, and his party ran him out of town for it

  12. Ghetto boy Lucas won’t be able to run for dog archer after this is all said and done.

  13. let him run ..ANY Dem will lose in 2022 in MO ..esp after two years of Beijing Bidet's destruction of the economy..

  14. ^^And yet the market is up Big again today!! , stimulus checks arriving soon, and Gas nowhere near $5.00 a gallon and the Biden vaccine is rolling out across the country. If this is the destruction of the economy, bring it on!!!!

    Let's make it happen, girls!

  17. It's becoming clear that President Trump did all the heavy lifting when it comes to the pandemic. Trump implemented the travel ban on China, fast-tracked therapeutics, developed vaccines, and helped get vaccination numbers up to about a million doses a day. Biden comes along and all the big and important stuff has already been done. Thank you President Trump.

    ReplyDelete
  18. ^^and yet he let half a million Americans die of Covid while catching it himself, and he failed to secure enough doses for everyone. The Biden administration is the one that won against COVID. Weird.

  19. He's articulate and personable, so he could win.

He should do some work in the gravitas area, such as a foreign policy trip.

The timing in 2022 may turn out to be wrong, however.

  21. 5:47 and yet that’s not true, counting everybody that died in car wrecks, shootings, heart attacks cancer and so on that had covid isn’t really accurate now is it? Sure, people died from covid but since chyna flu joe has been in as president asterisk the cdc has reported a drop of 77% in cases and deaths, why is that? Because now they don’t count all those deaths from other causes that had covid in their system and honestly the testing has improved drastically so your not getting false positives at the rate they were in the beginning, but you knew that already didn’t you chimpy.

Here’s another fact that you left out, again, Trump ordered 1.2 billion doses back in the fall, but you knew that too.

C’mon man, proving you to be the biggest idiot in killa shitty is boring, find something else to do, at least try acting like you have some intelligence.

    1. When the United States has only 330 million people, 6;22, what would they do with TWICE THE DOSES THE COUNTRY NEEDS?

You're confusing 1.2 bullion doses with the $1.2 billion Congress authorized to spend on vaccines. Not Trump.

At least try acting like you have some intelligence...to coin a phrase.

Galloway showed how empty the Dem's bench really is.
The election is the Republicans' to lose.

  26. Lucas has made it obvious during his time as Mayor that he represents only one group of people in the City. I do not believe this will sell in a state wide election.
As a life long Democrat who lives in KC, I do not see Lucas as being a City wide leader who is looking our for the best interests of the whole population of the city. Too bad.

"I was born a poor Black child to a single mother, and we experienced homelessness at times."

    From Pew Research
    https://www.pewresearch.org/interactives/racial-and-ethnic-gaps-in-the-u-s-persist-on-key-demographic-indicators/

(The majority of measures shown in these charts are derived from the Current Population Survey, Annual Social and Economic Supplements (ASEC), which is conducted in March of every year. Conducted jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the CPS is a monthly survey of approximately 55,000 households and is the source of the nation’s official statistics on unemployment.)

Click on White and Black to compare those 2 races.
In 2020, the rate of high school completion was 95% for Whites vs. 90% for Blacks. Very close.
In 2015, the life expectancy for Whites was 79 years vs. 76 years for Blacks. Once again, very close.
The statistics on household income, poverty rate, home ownership, and median wealth show much wider divergence.
What explains this? I believe it's the marriage rate.
In 2020, the marriage rate for Whites was 58% vs. 33% for Blacks. I believe it's a well-known fact that committed married couples enjoy a higher standard of living than their counterparts.

In 2020, here's the marriage rate for all races listed: Asians 64%, Whites 58%, Hispanics 47%, Blacks 33%
This explains why Blacks have more struggles with financial-related matters. And the decision to marry, and remain married, is largely a cultural issue. Not to stereotype everyone in the group, but Black culture does not value marriage, and that is a huge disservice to the Black race.
Until Blacks return to a family unit centered around marriage, they will continue to lag other races regarding finances. It's not the myth of White Institutional Racism that keeps Blacks underperforming, it's a culture that doesn't value strong families within a marriage union.

$1.71 a gallon under President Trump.

Biden's Executive Orders has created a disaster on the southern border.

American's electric and natural gas utility bills are skyrocketing after Biden killed the Keystone pipeline and threw new regulations on the United State energy industry with another Executive Order.

    Increased taxes under Biden.

Increased crimes and murder under Biden and the Marxist Democrat Party.
