The new designs have proven exceptionally underwhelming and without much merit, artistry or public interest for city that prides itself on one of the greatest American skylines.

Kansas City may be able to preserve existing Buck O'Neil Bridge - Kansas City Business Journal
Three weeks ago, the Kansas City area got its first glimpse of the Buck O'Neil Bridge's planned new design after a $220 million replacement effort is completed in 2024. Not all community members were fans of what they saw from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Save it and rename it Satchel Paige Bridge. He's Kansas Citys Black national baseball hero.
ReplyDeleteNobody is willing to pay for the Business Journal to read their biased articles. They are quickly going the way of The Falling Star.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bridge . . . who gives a damn what it looks like?
ReplyDeleteMaybe KC should first focus of murders, potholes, flooding . . . etc. etc. etc
ReplyDeleteScrew the Buck O'neil bridge thee's more things to worry about than BLM BS
Repurpose the old bridge as a place for homeless to set up camp.
ReplyDeletethe park space on the old bridge is a brilliant idea, imho.
ReplyDeletego for it!
The new design is smooth, flowing and modern. Give a nice geographical name to it like say Broadway Bridge and the Kansas City everything upto date status gets updated.
ReplyDeletegaawd fckn dipshits. You want to make a landscaped bridge, turn the one over by kemper arena into the park (does not need restaurants on it), it actually leads or could easily lead somewhere for pedestrians bike to go.
ReplyDeletePlease stop teasing us with these articles that when you click them, they want a fee to subscribe!!, ESPECIALLY the Star which i would rather have a tooth pulled than read!
ReplyDeleteThe picture is hilarious. The park space on the bridge will be full of crackheads, used condoms, bodies, and trash in three months.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they call the Broadway Bridge the Buck O'Neil Bridge. Who was Buck O'Neil?
ReplyDeleteOh hogwash. We dont need to spend hundreds of millions for him. How about George Brett? He did more for baseball than just be white.
ReplyDeleteif you want a nice walk with river views, get cooperation from the railroads to their service access roads along the rivers, or just commandeer it yourself and go for a ride.
ReplyDelete"Rail-WITH-Trail
ReplyDelete-Any shared-use path that is located on or directly next to an active railroad or fixed route transit corridor.
-Railroad property actively used by railroad.
-A trail manager must negotiate a use easement or license with the railroad company.6 Generally this is reached through sale and/or liability sharing agreements.7 "
