Public radio shares the company line from 12th & Oak that emphasizes the tax on JoCo and the promise of ECONOMIC DEVASTATION if this town doesn't renew the levy.
Typically, this effort wins by about 50 points BUT this time around the campaign will proceed without the help of Steve Glorioso and more than a few of the longtime consultants who have helped the measure over the years.

Kansas City's Earnings Tax Is Up For Renewal. Here's What Voters Need To Know Ahead Of April 6
You could be forgiven if you're not aware that Kansas City has an important tax election April 6. There is no TV ad blitz, no big debates, no flood of yard signs. And, no organized opposition to a tax that many people aren't thrilled to pay.
NO ON E TAX!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll they need to know is that it doesn’t go to anyone but the developers, nothing they claim it goes too gets one penny, it’s become painfully obvious that it’s help not one city dept or the citizens.
ReplyDeleteNOT NO BUT HELL NO, NO MORE SCAM ETAX EVER AGAIN!
Vote Yes on the Earnings Tax renewal, so we can keep spending tax money on entertainment districts, convention centers, convention hotels, parking garages for luxury condos and apartments, toy trains, stadiums and subsidize underperforming TIF's.
ReplyDelete^^^ true dat
ReplyDeleteSo glad I don't pay the E-tax to these buffoons anymore. Renaming streets, studying reparations, painting BM on roads. Just burn the whole fucking place down.
ReplyDeleteLet’s all grow up and do the right thing and vote NO for the E TAX. . It’s the only reasonable choice. Be sure you are on the right side of history. Only a racist would vote for such a tax .
ReplyDeleteBankruptcy for $2,000 Stu!
ReplyDeleteFUCK THE E TAX STARVE THE BEAST
ReplyDeleteThe e-tax never fails, even if that requires relying on nefarious election shenanigans. The alternative is guaranteed and immediate city banruptcy. Those sort of stakes remove any moral or ethical concerns from consideration.
ReplyDeleteVOTE NO FOR THE E TAX. It will reduce crime and help the less fortunate.
ReplyDeleteThat jackass of a councilman O'Neill stated as about as arrogant as you could get, you don't have to pass the E tax because we will get our money one way or the other that was his quote. We can raise sales tax and we can raise property taxes. Then the old bastard goes on to state, 48% of the revenue we receive it's from people who don't live here but use our services. Show as a Kansas City resident you either vote for the E tax or in his opinion you will foot the bill for 48% of the people who work here but don't live here..INAFFERRABILE CREDIBILE...
ReplyDeleteDO NOT RENEW THE E-TAX!!!!! IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE CONSERVATIVE, WHITE, OR LIVE
ReplyDeleteOUTSIDE DOWNTOWN, THOSE DOLLARS GO TO DOWNTOWN INTERESTS, ADMINISTRATION INSIDERS, PEOPLE AND GROUPS WHO HATE YOU. YOU ARE FINANCING YOUR OWN DOWNFALL IF YOU VOTE YES.
The KCMO e-tax will pass as usual because the clueless supporters of what they remember their old town once was will vote yes, and all the pigs whose trough is filled by the tax will lift their snouts our just long enough to head to the polls.
ReplyDeleteIn KCMO just keep in mind that any and all revenue sources are never to fund any actual services for residents or local businesses and you'll never be surprised or disappointed after the elections.
Time to refill the slush fund!
Those bicycle lanes won't pay for themselves!
KCMO: the laughingstock of the region.
Where North of river does one find "Vote No" signs?
ReplyDeleteYou should not put any signs out. Someone will target you as racist. Just vote No please.
ReplyDeleteI did not make the comment at 7:04.
