Hanging Up On Kansas City 911

Check more deets on rising complaints against vital Kansas City infrastructure that, unfortunately and continually, leaves local hanging . . . Here's the latest installment of this emergency report:

Family gives up on 911 after hearing automated please hold message

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- When you call 9-1-1, you expect to be able to talk with some immediately, But if you live in Kansas City, be prepared to sit on hold and wait. You'll likely hear a recorded message before you get a dispatcher.

  1. Unfortunate and happens more than those who don’t need to call 911 realize. This is the reality and consequences of restricted budgets, hiring freezes, and cuts to the PD. It’s only going to get worse and unfortunately people will probably be hurt or killed as a result. That is on the council and mayor and not the agency responding (PD or FD).

  3. That has been happening for years now and there is NO EXCUSE for it. Tell your city to hire more help or get weapons and handle the problem yourself. It's that simple. If you sit back and let this happen it's your own fault. To cut back on police and support terrorism, racism, and crime in the city is not acceptable unless you sit back and do nothing. That is when it becomes your fault.

  4. The police don’t seem to really give two shits about improving this or really anything else. This has been a problem for YEARS.

  6. 803 Only so much pd can do about it when budget cuts, hiring freezes by the city, and the inability to fill vacancies. Add in the reality that people don’t want to work for a police agency these days because of criticism from everyone in their life, especially civilians who can make better money doing other jobs that don’t make you work sometimes 12-14 hour shifts 6 days a week. You figure a handful of calltakers are trying to handle sometimes 100s of calls every few minutes. It’s a money thing not a don’t want to fix the issue thing.

  7. Came on an accident a few days ago in an area around Raytown. Bu I must have picked up a cell towner in KCMO because when I dialed 911 I got the recording. I moved out of KCMO years ago and I forgot that you hardly ever got thru to a person when dialing 911.

It appears black lives don't matter if they need an ambulance.

  8. This is totally unacceptable, but, remember BLM and black activists want to defund the police!! SO you get what you pay for, sadly!!

  9. Disconnect the Hold buttons. New calls will just merge into existing calls and the 911 operators will have to sort thru them.

  10. Vote AGAINST the earnings tax, and watch city money suckers scream.

When I call 911, and get the recording that all call takers are playing video games and drinking coffee, I hang up and disconnect the phone.

Having paid for service, without getting it, they can pick a butt cheek and pucker up.
