TKC TOLD YOU SO: KANSAS CITY MAYOR Q CONSIDERS COMMUNITY DEMAND FOR TAXPAYER FUNDED 'SIDESHOW' VENUE AS PO-PO CRACK DOWN ON STREET RACING GUNFIRE CHAOS!!! THUNDERDOME!!!
About our cheeky headline #TBT reference . . .
Thunderdome is an arena for steel-cage jousting in the 1985 Australian post-apocalyptic film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Accordingly . . .
KANSAS CITY LEADERS HOPE TO ORGANIZE ANARCHY ON LOCAL STREETS BY WAY CRAFTING A SIDESHOW HOTSPOT!!!
Of course, this isn't a new idea.
In fact, apropos for #TBT, we noted this idea last year.
Credit where it's due: East side leaders have been asking for funding for this project as well.
This afternoon a local standup & East side auto enthusiast earned social media accolades for reiterating his plan for creating community-based auto events.
All things considered, there have been worse transit ideas proposed for KCMO.
Nevertheless . . .
From Mayor Cleaver's "Hot Summer nights" to Mayor Sly's pizza party plan to stop Plaza flash mobs . . . A tragic fact remains clear: Appeasing the NextGen denizens who engage in violence or create havoc never works.
Of course there's a legit argument about crafting ALTERNATIVES for youngsters in order to provide productive options.
These are two separate problems.
Nevertheless, the illegal sideshow crisis won't be solved with organized venues alone and the KCPD crackdown will likely have to escalate in order to effectively control the problem.

Fox4: KC will 'explore' opening drag strip, burnout park to curb illegal street racing, mayor says
Money line . . .
The ideas include opening a local burnout park or drag racing strip; some suggestions even include rebuilding the Kansas City International Raceway that closed in 2011.
“We continue to look on ways we can enhance our options on drag racing and making sure people aren’t just going out in the street,” Mayor Quinton Lucas said. “The problem is, we can’t do that option just tomorrow, just this weekend. You have to follow the law in the meantime. There is always a possibility and something we’d like to explore.”
Developing . . .
fun times for Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteHe is doing better than Frank White. That is the standard.
ReplyDeleteThese kids need to stay home and read a book.
ReplyDeleteRead a book !? If only they could read !

ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty low bar.
WTF Banister Malls lot would have worked. Give it another year they can have Independence Mall. Childish spoiled BLM Karencratic hand out free shit army is taking over. Who is paying taxes ????

ReplyDeleteInmates run the asylum
ReplyDeleteLet a biz person do it. Charge admission, memberships, have safety requirements. It could work.
ReplyDeleteIt did work. Christine Kemper didn't like it after she moved nearby.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing Kansas City has always been good at is shooting itself in the foot.
ReplyDeleteYes, weird, Kansas City had this until the politicians shut it down. Now the have the nerve to say we need it back?
ReplyDeleteNot coming out of my pocket. Maybe they can piggyback replacing the dragstrip that they closed in with the gofundme to get a prettier bridge replacement from MoDOT? Maybe split the take? Do two separate begs? Panhandle? I'm sure the brain trust in KC can come up with something. ππΏπ₯¨πΊ
ReplyDeleteMayor McDrinkerson manages to be a comedian all the time! What a hilarious stooge.
ReplyDeleteJust the latest in an increasing-long list of Lucas proposing pretty much ANYTHING to pander to "the youth" and avoid demanding that folks behave with the slightest decency, common sense, and consideration for anybody nut themselves.
ReplyDeleteCreating brand new ways for "kids" to be irresponsible, then behave counter-productively, and then finally, self-destructively.
Start 'em young and then wonder why the crime and homicide rates continue to rise.
The KCMO administration of passivity, pandering, and eliminating any rules or sense of responsibility.
What (else) could possibly go wrong?
How about this? Scrap the downtown stadium pipe dream idea and put in a downtown dragstrip instead? Think BIG Kansas City! ππΏπ₯¨πΊ
ReplyDeleteHow about you go away, idiot, since you contribute nothing, ever? How about that?
ReplyDeleteFuck taxpayers foot the bill for that bullshit!
ReplyDeleteMake them buy their own space and assume responsibility for their associated nonsense.
The Kemper's got KCIR closed if I remember correctly. Too much noise. This is a waste of my money will just turn into a place to shoot people........wait a minute
ReplyDeleteIf the “Speed” wanna bes want their own place make them pay for it.
ReplyDeleteThey obviously have enough money for the cars. They can find a way to pay for it themselves.
Yep and if you kid is a methhead, you want to legalize meth to please them.
ReplyDeleteKCIR was fun back in my day. They had a day called "Run What You Brung" for $20 you could bring any car you had and run it down the 1/4 mile track and get an official time. All us kids did it..good times.
ReplyDeleteLook at who we have as mayor, Congressmen and president and vice president. Boarderline idiots. This country is becoming the laughing stock of the world.
ReplyDelete4:56 you don't contribute shit. AND a downtown drag strip is actually a better idea than a baseball stadium, but not necessarily a great idea. A downtown baseball stadium is a shit idea.

ReplyDeleteOnly thing that will save this country is very deadly pigment based virus. Come on China we know you have one ready.
ReplyDeleteHey, this might be a good idea to repurpose the Red Star building....
ReplyDeleteThey built an area in Swope Park to accommodate the weekend cruisers out there and it didn't work. Stop doing knee jerk reactions. Ticket tow and seize!
ReplyDeleteTurn the new bridge into a drag strip after it is built. Everybody supposedly hates it anyway.
ReplyDeleteCool!! Create a generation full of narcissists. Let them know the second they crawl out of the womb they are entitled to everything and other people are to be preyed upon. I think if you level the Chiefs and Royals stadium that's more than plenty of room.makes sense since you want to build a baseball campground the homeless will take over immediately. Good job Lucas wet brain is starting to show.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a good idea. If people are going to have these kinds of meet-ups, give them a place to do it. The fact that all these oatmeal eating, diaper wearing, Matlock fan fossils are against it is proof it will work.
ReplyDeleteUm, don't you think part of the thrill for these people is the fact they might get caught?
DeleteWill you pay the lawsuits settlements?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter what color you are. Juveniles that are given credit cards and sent to the mall not having done a thing to earn it are the entitled generation. We have more to fear from them. These are tomorrows leaders. They already have disrespect for adults teachers and each other. I can't imagine insurance companies paying off on these kinds of claims for rollovers and damage. Does the funding subsidize that shit? Give the keys to your house Lucas and the ones to the liquor cabinet. Makes more sense. Judge by behavior not by race. Only 1% of blacks commit crimes. Hard working blacks get robbed beaten. We have given Kansas City 2 black mayors back to back. They can't fix it either.
ReplyDeleteBandit, I have a '76 with a bored and stroked tree fiddy with side dumps that would sound badass bumping off those buildings.
ReplyDeleteWe told them this would happen when the city bought and closed the Kansas City International Raceway.
ReplyDeleteI would suggest the parking lot at the K/Arrowhead, but there will soon be violence and lawsuits. Better to just ticket and impound now.
ReplyDeleteAre they really that stupid to think people that do this want to do it at a city approved venue?
ReplyDelete1996. Mayor Clever wants to use 63st drive in as alternate cruising location for teens to give them an alternative to Swope Park. At city expense. Failed because kids wanted to be out in public and not confined at the drive in. 1997 city makes Swope Park loop the congregation spot. Invests Upto $480K. Turns into a city sponsored event with parks and rec resources. Huge crime problem and neighbors hate it along with huge cruising problem in evenings when crowd left park to cruise Prospect. Enormous police resources needed to try and curb violence. Total failure. I expect the same if city gets involved in providing a location for all this and the criminal activity that will occur.
