TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! AMID BITTER COLD, SUBURBAN POLICE STILL DROP OFF HOMELESS IN KANSAS CITY PROPER!!!

Rising American homelessness is a problem that's endemic and is a symptom of a weakening economy and social safety net.

Even worse . . .

Suburban po-po dropping of the homeless in downtown KCMO is a not-so-proud tradition that dates back to at least the 1960s.

Here's a glimpse at the retro trend still in practice . . .

Mayor Q recently tweeted:

"In recent days, we’ve had suburban law enforcement agencies from Missouri and Kansas dropping off folks from their community to our overnight warming shelter at Bartle Hall. We welcome it because we care about people. But, hopefully this restarts a real regionalism conversation."

Our perspective on this not-so-fun fact . . .

SUBURBANITES DUMPING THEIR HOMELESS PROBLEM ON KCMO IS A SELFISH & STINGY TACTIC THAT OPERATES ON STEREOTYPES AND NOT WORSENING ECONOMIC REALITY!!!

Consider . . .

In much the same way that the suburbs are now center stage in the opioid epidemic, homelessness is also a crisis that the fading American middle-class should confront without leaning on urban population centers.

For years we've heard about the rising number of homeless in Johnson County . . . Clearly, the same is true of suburbs across the metro.

Moreover, suburbanites who reject responsibility for this crisis that's only growing worse are basically negating arguments against the controversial earnings tax which attempts to siphon some revenue from deadbeats on the edge of town.

You decide  . . .

  1. Another reason to tax the suburbs?

    C'mon man!

  2. So Sleepy Joe shuts down the Keystone Pipeline and destroys tens of thousands of direct and indirect American jobs, and today proposes a new one for Afghanistan. You can't make this stuff up.

  3. Well Kansas City MO is dumping their crime and criminals into our suburbs. Kansas City MO is also making non citizens pay tax to the city so......

  4. They drop them off here because kcmo is where they live. They be taken home why should we babysit your problem

  5. They belong with mayor Lucas.

  6. People moved out of the city and to the suburbs to avoid social responsibility. Suburbs stay nice by keeping poor folks away. Bottom line is that socialism will never work in the US, as our people are simply too selfish.

    1. No. People moved to the suburbs to avoid the long list of crap that cities produce: political machines, corruption, crime and the biggest reason is that most people looked around said “why do I have to live this way?,
And socialism is working just fine in the U.S. the unemployment, disappearing middle class, rising number of millionaire politicians, drug addicts, pornography, abortions, hunger are all results of successful socialism. I could go on, but none of this was even on the radar until the 1960’s when socialism and communism became strong enough to destabilize the country
So rejoice, you have what you wanted

  8. Heck Bartle hall is the place to be if your homeless. All the help you need and drugs !!! Like a hippy YMCA with no pool.

  9. Not related but maybe the mayor will bring this “bold plan” to killa shitty! Remember, you heard it here first! Lmao!

“A community activist is pushing a bold strategy to reduce murders in the city – pay people not to kill,” a FOX45 news anchor says before introducing a piece on Tyree Moorehead.

Um, “bold,” really? I guess cowering to criminals and paying them to do the morally right thing is now “bold.”

According to the WBFF-TV report on Tuesday, Moorehead’s “bold” idea follows his realization that painting “no shoot zones” in areas of the city, just isn’t working.

  11. To be fair, the KCPD used to drop them off in NKC and Independence.

  12. You created the mess Lucas. You deal with it!

  13. Glad to see the mayor has time to ignore black on black crime.

  14. I like to see the numbers and not just some crap falling out of Lucas's mouth.

Another bullshit move by Lucas using the media for brownie points.

  15. Yay! Just what KC needs -- more blacks!

  16. This has been going for 40 years and probably long before that. It used to be called Vagrant Volleyball, among other things.

  17. Mayor McDrinkerson! Wake up! Did you remember that you failed on reducing crime, which was supposed to be your signature issue? I know that you have lots of failures to remember.

  18. Lucas and Kelly exacerbated the problems with their authoritarian shutdowns of small businesses. Mainly Lucas. Let him figure out how to solve his own problems. He wanted KC to be a third world shithole like Seattle, Portland and San Francisco, so let him wallow in the squalor.

  19. Maybe this isnt true. Q did not call out any specific law enforcement agency.

  20. The suburbs are repeatedly victimized by "citizens" of KCMO. Burglaries, assaults, robberies, and rapes are almost always KCMO thugs. The suburban police have every right to bring the trash back where it came from. And no, we aren't going to pay you for it.

  21. Gus wins the thread with vagrant "volleyball."

    Nice one!

  22. I've actually seen video of Overland Park police dropping off an intoxicated person at Bartle. Also, a private security transportation van of the GEO company with KS tags dropped off five the other day. That's it so far as I've seen.

  23. The suburbs continue to grow and spread further out into the country, but society's problems always end up catching up to them. Not a sustainable model in the long run.

    ReplyDelete
  24. There isn't going to be any conversation about "regionalism" because no other elected officials with any sense or who is a responsible person would dare to burden the residents and taxpayers of their jurisdiction with the albatross of having anything to do with KCMO.
    Particularly with anything financial.
KCMO's approach is to decide to do whatever they want and then to "define" regionalism with the idea that everyone else should help pay for it.
Of course, the "projects" that are pursued are such harebrained ideas as taxpayer-funded grocery stores, 18th and Vine, entertainment districts, and all the rest of the flimflam that have nothing to do with actual services to residents.
And they always involve an emphasis on who gets what out of them.
Please keep the ever-deepening hole in your own back yard.

Calling B.S. -- likely a ploy to demonize non-KCMO residents, now working from home, who deserve their Earnings Tax refund!!!
