TKC MUST SEE!!! NEW KANSAS CITY BUCK O'NEIL BRIDGE STILL LOOKS BORING!!!

The old bridge is busted, not so safe and is soon to be torn down.

Sadly, the replacement isn't generating much excitement because nearly a quarter of a billion dollars doesn't buy a lot nowadays . . .

Massman-Clarkson of Kansas City will be responsible for designing and building the new bridge that carries U.S. 169 over the Missouri River. The project is expected to cost $220 million.

Contractors released these renderings of the design for the bridge on Tuesday.

Feel free to share reactions here given that people will also only pretend to listen at livestream meetings.

You decide . . .

    1. ^^^ Better cities can do both. That's how they become better cities.

      Show some ambition. Loser.

  3. Bridges are there to move vehicles not for scenery. MoDOT is broke so deal with it.

  4. All that matters is that they do their job regardless of how plain they are.

  5. "but we need to enhance the features on this bridge and look to retain as much of the separate, old bridge as possible. This is currently one of our prettier Missouri River crossings. We should retain that vibe, not just mimic the 435 bridge."
If this is what mayor Mckneely desires for the bridge then the old bridge should be repaired and not torn down. No need to build new.

  6. Interesting that HNTB is not doing it. Maybe their design was prettier and costlier.

  7. That should be Satchel’s bridge... but whatever. This town is retarded and backwards, at best.

  8. If it's named for Buck O'Neill, then construct it out of baseball bats and pipe in KC Jazz. Nothing against Mr. O'Neill or KC Jazz - LOL.
