TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY RESTART HOMELESS ADVOCATES DROP OUT OF MAYOR Q BARTLE HALL WARMING CENTER PLAN AFTER CHAOS AND DISRESPECT AT CONVENTION CENTER!!!

First . . .

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS said it best: "That didn't take long."

A shoddy plan from Mayor Quinton Lucas hoped to temporarily convert the downtown Kansas City Convention Center into a homeless camp; now the initiative is already coming apart.

To wit and in the aftermath of the Revolutionary Black Panther Party "protecting" the facility . . .

RESTART OPTS OUT & REVEALS CHAOS AT THE DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY CONVENTION CENTER HOMELESS CAMP!!! EVEN WORSE, THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF DISRESPECT FOR VOLUNTEERS ALONG WITH LAX SAFETY PROTOCOLS!!!

Here's the most telling passage from a recent note . . .

What occurred on Friday, January 29 during our work with the City and The Creative Innovative Entrepreneurs (CIE) group was not in line with the values and culture of inclusion that we are founded on and operate in. Due to the overall unsafe practices that CIE is demanding to operate under, their public statements about being anti-police and the hostile environment their team created - reStart will not participate in this effort as there is too great a liability for those being served. We will remain a partner to the CITY in an effort to end homelessness.

Never in my 20 years of doing this work have I been met with so much resistance, disrespect and lack of collaboration. reStart will not subject our staff or volunteers to this disrespect nor will we continue to be a part of work that is done without care for safety or with the intent to provide the best help to those in need. We did not learn that the organization that the City chose to partner with for this effort was anti-police until the press conference when they shared it and reStart does not share that sentiment. We are proud to continue working with KCPD to support people experiencing homelessness in our community.

Throughout our work at Garrison and at Bartle with CIE, it very much felt as if the City and reStart were being held hostage and reStart will not do work in that way as it is exhausting, chaotic and distracting from the overall mission. reStart is not willing to subcontract with CIE and will not be involved at the warming center if CIE is going to remain on site. We will remain a partner to the CITY; however, I will not subject any of my staff or volunteers to this kind of mistreatment. For future projects with the City, our team will require time to ensure a successful collaboration is possible.

There's a lot more in this complaint that locals will see on tonight's local news . . .

  1. This was always a bad plan. What is Quinton going to do to fix it. Will he even acknowledge the problem. That's REAL question.

    1. Quinton will deny. He doesn't believe in answering any real questions.

    2. Thanks Q.

Bringing more homeless into downtown was a really dumb idea.

  5. It's a shit show. I was harassed by "security" while dropping off donations - toiletries and utensils for about 300 people (my company provides these packages to airlines and hotels). After about five minutes, I wheeled my donations back to my van and drove off. My company has worked with reStart for years to provide help to the community through donations. I will find another restart project to assist.

  6. Laughing my fanny off. We on the inside told the powers that be that this was a VERY stupid and bad idea. But we're the professionals what do we know. We asked for KCPD or professional security officers and were turned down flat. Now we have a homeless camp on the south lawn of city hall. And we're told hands off. This group is calling themselves the homeless union and they don't want to be forced to go to Bartel hall so they will camp out in the cold and crap all over the lawn. They want a long term solution which is free housing. How about getting a job?

  7. The Boy Blunder blundered again. When will he ever learn?

  8. Good for you Stephanie for spotting a major liability issue and signing off. Sounds like CIE doesn't want to collaborate with anyone. How much are the Black Panthers making off this gig?

    ReplyDelete
  9. You would have thought there would be better planning and agreement on this kind of thing. Security should have been the first topic of discussion.

Really obvious from this that the mayor didn't get into the detail of the plan, just signed off on it.

  10. I'm shocked! Who could have ever imagined that hiring The Black Panthers to run security at a homeless shelter would not work out gloriously?

I'm sure Lucas has seen the error of his ways, and will mitigate the problem by calling reputable security firms like the Hell's Angels and Al-Qaeda.

Of course, The Panthers will receive hefty payment for their time . . . and maybe a justifiable, six-figure settlement due to the city's breach of contract.

  11. Wait, what? Someone finally said 'enough' and stood up to the BLMish CIE? Strange days man.

  14. Anton Washington, you glory hound. Trying to act like the big man on campus. You and the Negra Panthers were quite a sight. The mayor holds most of the blame. Maybe the Panthers promised the mayor he could sniff the ashes of old school member Huey Newton? What a shit show.

Restart is mostly educated White professionals. CIE and the New Black Panthers are Black urban grifters who like to take selfies. It was diversity that defeated this project.

  17. 4:40 Yes, CIE are black frauds, with the exception of that white whale that said CIE is 'anti-cop' at the press conference.

  18. I think this was a setup because business community did not want to give the taxpayer subsidized building and share it with anyone. The Mayor should just put a for sale sign on it and let the business community buy it. I sure don't want this homeless camp in Brookside or the Plaza.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey, I don't want this in the Northland. The Mayor is doing the right thing trying to increase the population downtown.

  20. Good for ReStart! kicked them a little $50 donation in honor of their standing up to CIE..

they could sure use more $$ or volunteers during these crazy times.. kick in, if you're able..

  27. With his totally amazing lack of planning, common sense, pandering, and utter naivete, Lucas has made another step at becoming the "Chaos King"!
He insists on surrounding himself with the wrong people for all the wrong reasons and acts as though the real world works just like the make-believe academic world he actually lives in.
How much has his incompetence cost the taxpayers so far?
And in this instance, someone is likely to get hurt.

  36. But I heard the mayor this morning on talk radio saying how proud he was of this event. And how he appreciated all that was being done. He did not mention any discord. Someone is not being candid in their assessment of the project. Who could that be? I would be interested to know how is this project being funded? What liabilities is the city taking on by hosting the facility? Who will be responsible for any law suits evolving from any claims made at this event? What credintials do the providers have to host and staff this event? Who are the people in the tents on the front lawn of city hall today? Jyst wondering!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Who's making money from this Bartle Hall homeless shelter?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mayor's spokesman says the panthers aren't getting money. So maybe they're hoping they'll just go away.

    ReplyDelete
  39. What is really annoying to me, is the fact that the jail AND city hall are in need of repair. The taxes are once again going to go up. Cramming a hundred people in to a building with covid raging.. Guess that's one way to solve the homeless population. But not a new city hall. Hey Modest Miles, why don't you donate some of the real estate on the east side you and your cronies gobbled up. Get them out of downtown.

  42. The best thing you can do is not work in Kansas City and not pay the earnings tax at all. There are plenty of businesses in Johnson County to work at. The earnings tax is an evil tax on white professionals (from Johnson County especially) which funds anti-police, leftist/communist a-hole Democrats in Kansas City. They waste your money on hair-brained schemes like this. Vote with your feet and do not give them your money. When you work downtown at one of those big corporations, you are also giving support to companies that persecute you with their far-left "woke" apologist policies.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not sure why there is not more talk about the black panther party providing security? Might as well have the KKK do security.

    ReplyDelete
  44. While throwing blame, be sure to include Shields and Bunch. They are just as responsible, or irresponsible as Mayor Q

    ReplyDelete
  45. I wonder why in the HELL I haven't seen 1 thing about this on any local or even national news for that matter. It seems like ANY city contracting with the Black Panthers for so much as anything, let alone security, seems unfathomable at any level. Really, I mean WTH is wrong with you people!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. The amount of taxpayer money needed to finance this warming shelter thru the end of March is in excess of $400K. This is for security (professional city security), feeding, housekeeping, showers and OT. Where will they get this money? Cut more city services! Also, they were planning a soft opening of the Convention Center with small events in Feb. Forget that. So the $400K does not include the lost revenue. Knee jerk reaction by your city government.

    ReplyDelete
  47. And still no news coverage about this non-sense
