TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY BUDGET IGNITES PUBLIC SAFETY FUNDING FEUD!!! FIRE DEPT. CASH EXPLODES WHILST POLICE MONEY FIZZLES!!!

More than any other document, the Kansas City budget offers a glimpse into civic priorities and how our elected leaders plan the future of this community.

Accordingly, and as always, we share KICK-ASS INSIDER word first . . .

"Another win for Local 42. Who’s in their pocket?  Crime is sky high, fire suppression is down, but this is how the funds get divided. And no one in Human Resources or the Council has the guts to stand up."

Here's the budget proof and a glimpse at real world first responder disparity . . .

An important note . . .

When we talk about the budget, Kansas City elected leaders often deflect criticism and cite "public safety" funding without getting into specifics.

What this note does is offer a glimpse inside the process and reveals a great deal of taxpayer cash funding pensions, overtime and tech.

Moreover . . .

12TH & OAK BUDGETING DECLARES HIRING FREEZE FOR COPS AFTER DEADLIEST YEAR IN KANSAS CITY HISTORY!!!

We understand that the pandemic requires sacrifice from everyone but this decision simply ignores reality on local streets and endangers everyone in this community.

And let's be real, rank & file firefighters deserve EVERY PENNY they earn because we know they're risking their lives. As far as this blog is concerned we don't want to take away anything from KCFD. Instead, we contend that even in the midst of the COVID crisis, the budget remains packed with frivolous garbage like entertainment district funding & the hiring of a KCMO equity officer. Before trimming any sort of public safety, hacking away at corporate welfare and political patronage deserves more consideration.

The argument here is with decisions at the top of the food chain -- The reality is that the current administration has been out on local streets protesting police and they've signed on to documents that threaten to eviscerate local law enforcement, undo checks & balances and bring the department under activist control.

In the end, this budget doesn't reflect policy, it's nothing more than politics pure & simple.

Developing . . .

  1. Cut police during a murder spree?

    Only in Kansas City.

  2. Mayor Takeaknee Lickass had a great time at the Stuper Bowl !!!

  3. Psst, you knew this would be coming, the wolfs in all departments are going to be circling the money pit snapping and growling for their cut and wanting more than the others.

  4. I'm sure gonna miss the spring fire academy testing routine. So many promises and things said behind the admin screen. I hoope they are funding the regular city pension as diligently. It was mandatory participation, remember?

    ReplyDelete
  5. The city sends a tape recorder to bargain with firefighters, then grant whatever they ask for

    ReplyDelete
  6. There surely must be at least an attempt to justify the fire department budget increase, and the police department's decrease. It's far too complicated a subject for the Star to take up, but maybe some enterprising citizen journalist will take it on.

  7. hahaha greedy cop union vs greedy fire union, should be interesting, both fight over the corpse of the KCMO taxpayer

  8. Vote Yes on the Earnings Tax renewal, so we can keep spending tax money on entertainment districts, convention centers, convention hotels, parking garages for luxury condos and apartments, toy trains, stadiums and subsidize underperforming TIF's.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The first 1/2 percent of the earnings tax passed in 1964 was for
increased funding for the police department and 1500 police officers. The fire department just took the money. But the police continue to vote for the earnings tax. Maybe they will wake up and vote no.

  10. Mayor lickass and no balls hates the police because they scared him once when he was in private school paid for by whitey.

I guess he maybe suffering from ptsd after passing out drunk on his ass behind the wheel of a running vehicle in Lawrence and then those mean ole cops woke him up, my god, the horror!

  11. Hey KC - you voted for it, you got it.

Welcome to the consequences for being stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  12. i really should be hired as the equity officer.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It would be interesting to know how many police department vacant positions are frozen through 2022.

A lot of police officer retirements and resignations occurred this past year due to the riots and lack of Mayor and City Council support while police officers were being assaulted and brutally shot.

  14. Ridiculous pension plans nationwide are consuming all new taxpayer dollars.

Government workers and teachers retire at age 50 and then go get another job in the same profession at another district or municipality and earn yet another pension plan payment.

With life expectancy around 80 these days taxpayers sustaining a government retiree for 30+ years is unsustainable.

Government workers should have a 403b plan (gov't version of 401k) and that is it; just like taxpayers do.

  15. Funny! Fire, EMS has more people jumping off a single pumper truck than PD has for a 65 square mile division. Congrats to them! At least they are organized.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 5:44 it’s not just government employees and teachers retiring early and getting another job, everybody does it. Where I work, people that retired from att, the railroad, spectrum and another place I can’t remember got another job to pad their retirement, it’s common practice if you stayed with one job long enough to retire at a younger age to get another job any more, matter of fact, unless you retired rich you’re a fool if you don’t so...

I keep hearing about teachers pensions but no one says what they are, exactly how much do they make that pisses people off so much?

    ReplyDelete
  17. 5:52 ems and fire actually work, police not so much, their biggest job is for thirty of them to stand around a murder scene for around four hours and then go hide at qt and eat all the free food they can get.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @ 5:44 I get it but look at your house and senate in the state and then talk to me about the line workers pension.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I’m guessing that the average teacher pension is about $3000 before medical and taxes are taken out, that probably leaves them with about $1800 or $1900 a month.

That’s way less than most welfare losers make in a month, not taxed either and it’s clearly not something a person can live on for the rest of their lives either.

    ReplyDelete
  20. How much money could kcmo save just by leaving the Eastside.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 6:08 great point, a retiring senator will make $176,000 a year for life plus free medical and travel.

Let’s start there instead of everybody pissing and moaning about a teacher or government employee that will retire at $36,000 before taxes and medical get taken out.

  22. @ 5:52 Call the pot kettle aren't we? You guys don't do shit either except bloat your numbers and show up where you are not needed. Stand around and do nothing also! You have three times as many but don't do shit! You attacked first!

  24. @6:03 Lots of Fire tucks at the HyVee every day! How many police cars do you see that are not actually working?

  25. DO NOT RENEW THE E-TAX!!!!! IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE CONSERVATIVE, WHITE, OR LIVE
OUTSIDE DOWNTOWN, THOSE DOLLARS GO TO DOWNTOWN INTERESTS, ADMINISTRATION INSIDERS, PEOPLE AND GROUPS WHO HATE YOU. YOU ARE FINANCING YOUR OWN DOWNFALL IF YOU VOTE YES.

  26. 6:30 the only police cars I see are at qt getting free food and drink and on tv when there’s thirty cops and cars on the scene of a dead hoodrat, pretty much sums up their entire existence right there.

Why do they go to a murdered hoodrat scene with sirens blazing, going ninety miles an hour for somebody that’s already dead? Do they think the dead hoodrat is gonna get up and walk away from them? At this point it’s all ready too late for all this “police protection” dont you think?

I am pro police but their budget is wildly out of control.

  27. @6:03..LOL!! okay..mebbe some EMT keep somewhat ..most Firefighters lounge around the statiob..sleeping, or watching porn.

the KCPD is out there battling BLM "peaceful protesters"

    ReplyDelete

  28. Democrat greedy Firefighter Union slobs have ALWAYS scammed KC taxpayers out of big $$

now..they're endangering those same citizens by causing reductions in the KCPD.

    ReplyDelete
  29. At least they will have somebody to put out the fires when the hoodrats riot.

    ReplyDelete
  30. So because there is a hiring freeze and KCPD had about 100 retirements this city will have around 1100 cops in less than a year probably. Down 400 from what all the crime experts have called for. I hope everyone understands what the mayor did to this city when it’s time to vote against the E tax in April. Vote no, let everyone know vote no. If the city can’t pay for my safety they have not earned any trust about anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not only will your taxes go up but so will the cost of everything in Kansas City, especially insurance. Stores will pass along loss costs to consumers if they just don't decide that it's not worth it and close the doors. Be sure to thank Quinton!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Looks like misplaced priorities. On the flip side, KCPD is weak on property crime and that's really our biggest threat. So paying more and not getting protection doesn't work either.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The department was forced to cut property crimes detectives in half after the last budget. We used to have 10 detectives in Metro and now we only have 4.

    ReplyDelete
  34. zero percent investigate wage theft

    ReplyDelete
  35. Name one time where a policeman saved a life last year. I know they were blasting lives but not saving them. Whether or not there are police should not be the concern. They only show up after a life is going to collect evidence for the Prosecutors. This notion that police are out there saving lies is preposterous. Almost none of their job description has to do with saving lives. Therefore, the killing will continue unabated just as it has for decades.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ^^^ You are a ridiculous cop hater! How many people did KCPD "blast" last year? The few police shootings compared to the enormous number of police-citizen contacts show police use of force is rare and justified. As for saving lives, they potentially save lives everyday by taking violent people off the streets. KC has a lot of problems, but the police are not one of them.

    Dead on the money.

Look. Firefighters and Cops both have easy jobs, until they are NOT easy.

I do see firefighters at HYVEE all the time, don't give a fuck. I fought 3 fires in the service and passed out from smoke inhalation. I believe I still don't breathe right today from it. When there is a bad fire, it sucks and sucks bad and people can die, or, as bad, become damaged and never be the same.

Cops? Fuck that shit. All day long they are probably doing paperwork or fuckin off, but, holy shit, what, tell me WHAT could be worse than a domestic violence call at 11PM? Domestic violence calls for drunks and druggies are the worst. If it goes well, you get puked on, spit on, smeared with whiskey snot, Pit Bull shit and cussed at for being alive.

You wanna work those fuckin neighborhoods? By the way, even in Mission Hills the drunks and druggies, are still drunk and drugged and the effect is the same.

How about those nasty fuckin car crashes where the heads is missing and you are the one that has to go into the bushes (Cop/Firefighter) and look for it while the parents are screaming to God, "WHY!!! why!!!!"

In my opinion, when firefighters and cops are fuckin off, it's only the calm before the storm. The pickles are in aisle 6 fellas.

Cut payroll at the top where the fat really is.

  38. 6:15, that's not true. Do your research before posting. Retiring reps and senators do not pull down anything near that amount.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @9:33. It may appear kcpd is soft on property crime but the police only investigate. Inquire with your county prosecutor how many property crime cases they file on and prosecute in a year. That would include cases like burglary, stealing, auto theft, fraud or forgeries. I think you will be disappointed

    ReplyDelete
  40. God Bless the K.C.P.D. and K.C.F.D.. Shame on the Mayor and the City Counsel for endangering the Police Department Employees and Citizens by proposing to cut the Public Safety Budget!

    ReplyDelete
  41. The cops complain all the time. They act like they’re better than everyone else. If they don’t like their job, maybe try working at QuikTrip.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @ 9:54 funny you say that because I used to work for QT and now I'm making 45K a year... Have to put up with all the scrutiny of the public, etc. I like helping people but it's not seemingly worth it anymore.
