The idea to return baseball to the urban core was always a long shot and it turns out it was easier to "convert" spaces for hobos.

Why an award-winning KC firm designed a downtown Royals stadium (sky pool included) for free
Architecture is more than design - it's a business, the founder of Pendulum said: the business of balancing what's possible with what actually works. When Jonathan O'Neil Cole and his team at Pendulum Studio released concepts in July 2020 for a potential - and long-talked-about - downtown stadium for the Kansas City Royals baseball team, the award-winning architect didn't necessarily think the designs would ever come to fruition in the real world.
Every architectural design is "award winning". The architect firm pays for advertising in the publication and then the publication makes their project "award winning".
ReplyDeleteTaxpayers should not have to expend $800 million on a new downtown stadium for a billionaire owner and millionaire ball players toss a baseball, scratch their balls and spit everywhere.
Hey, something good came out of Covid.
ReplyDeleteA few concept sketches is not a design, it is marketing. Marketing for a firm that is desperate for business as Pendulum is not a major player in the Sports Architecture business.
ReplyDeletethat new needed i-70 highway design for the area won't be award winning - a good way to lose a lot of friends and money, imo.
ReplyDeleteNo one ever talks about who will pay for this $Billion boondoggle!!
ReplyDeleteIf all these JoCos want it, let them pay for it!!!!!
This idea died because it was fatally stupid.
ReplyDeleteSee you all at the groundbreaking!
ReplyDelete^^^^^^^^^^^The Real Truth Right There
